Nov 27, 2017 We all know Paul now as the fat Jew who beats off in his office and sucks at running Eminem's record label But he is also probably to thank for Eminem selling out musically w/ Recovery and ever since then So if Paul is the one f---ing Em from 2010-now then what was he doing before then I can't imagine the same guy pulling strings telling Em what to do on the first three albums...that guy would tell Paul eat a fat d-ck And then of course you have relapse which was a commercial and social failure. Surely the Paul we know today would've stopped Eminem from releasing an album about shoving tonka trucks up assholes and sticking umbrellas in women's vaginas ?? So what exactly was Paul doing at this point, did he only really start paying attention to Eminem's music after relapse came out and then he was like "oh s--- I have to stop marshall from talking about brain dead lesbian vegetables or we are f-----!" I guess up until that point everything Em did sold like hot cakes so he just let him do his own thing w/ minimal intervention
Nov 27, 2017 There's no way the guy who makes Em rap on Alex da kid beats ever got within 20ft of the studio when Em was talking about jack--- o-- to Hannah montanas boobs or even listened to the record for that matter I'm js
Nov 27, 2017 Outside of some songs & whatnot relapse could have been a really solid album. It had potential, it just fell very short. But I agree with @COLLEGROVE, money.
Nov 27, 2017 I mean obviously he did not know it would fail the way it did (see the recovery sellout), he thought he was gonna make even more cash than he did What I'm saying is how did he not stop it during production and stop Em from releasing a horrorcore album as a comeback
Nov 27, 2017 he was probably just happy the cash cow was back and gave him a bunch of leeway/freedom. that freedom was then quickly taken away when relapse under performed
Nov 27, 2017 Because anything from Eminem will sell, he knows Em stans will find a reason to say its good and they'll eat it up regardless
Nov 27, 2017 You're not getting my point He clearly reacted dramatically post-release, and ushered Em into the recovery era sellout mainstream punchline ft Rihanna and pink So he knows he f----- up and wasn't happy to just release relapse again Paul clearly wants/wanted more
Nov 27, 2017 That's probably it, man was probably just relieved to roll out another Em record You gotta think, idr encore numbers but everyone knew that was a joke anyway, but until that point everything Eminem had released had outsold just about everything in music
Nov 27, 2017 Relapse is probably my favorite Em album though...easily the best beat package and he was spitting. I would have much rather got the 2nd disc than Recovery, a bunch of template top 40 music. I'll play that front to back before I would any of his first 3 joints though it obviously isn't his creative peak.
Nov 27, 2017 Totally agree. There are some songs I actually like quite a bit across Relapse and Refill, but you're absolutely right, who the h--- thought it would be a good idea to release a serial killer horrorcore album as his comeback album? Em said in interviews leading up to the Relapse release that he wanted to take it back to the slim Shady persona. But the thing that is so frustrating, slim shady was never a serial killer. Slim shady was a down on his luck rapper who hated his wife, hated everything about his life, had nothing to lose, and everything to gain. This is off topic, but s---, he might as well make a concept album from that perspective, f--- it, make a true slim shady LP sequel except for this album, it should be told from the perspective that he did NOT blow up to pop culture status. I feel this is the only way a SSLP sequel would work. He'd also have to find real dark production similar to bass brothers. I don't know if I even like that idea haha. But regardless, my main point is, he clearly has absolutely nothing to rap about these days.
Nov 27, 2017 I never thought it was Paul. I assumed it was the label. They were responsible for The Real Slim Shady and so on. Plus, it was something new for him to try. I hate looking back on this period. I still remember putting in the CD in my car after getting it at Meijers at midnight...
Nov 27, 2017 You was like aw s---!! New Em for the first time in years, and he's sober!! "Huh...that's weird, don't remember Em sounding like this" *2 minutes in* "Turn on the tube maybe they'll show some boobs Jerk it to Hannah Montana and bust on the wall panelin" "Stick a flashlight up Kim kardashian a---" f---...
