Nov 27, 2017 But why Stanley? I just like puzzles. That's it. The way you think is a puzzle to me. I just want to gather information from you and try to find the solution, ok?
Nov 27, 2017 I was around for this - it's still accessible via archives...? I'm not willing to do the leg work, but would be a good read.

Nov 27, 2017 Eminem would have never fallen off if that lil c---- nathan didnt leak SFTL. He woulda released a good version of encore then OD'd and gone down as top 3 of all time next to big and pac lol.
Nov 27, 2017 This is the thread: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!search/illmatic/alt.rap/FxfyFrqfxSI/wjHqxHajrP8J There is something a discussion service named Usenet and it was the father of forums and boards to follow. It was very simple and effective to communicate and it existed before internet was easily or at all available to the public, that's why most of the users' emails have the edu suffix. Essentially internet was available only in Universities or more scarcely in entities that used it for business or organizational reasons. Then some years ago Google decided to host Usenet archives and million of posts that users thought would be forgotten in time are available for everyone to browse. You can find discussions on 2Pac and Biggies deaths if you are drippin' sauce for when things were more real...
Nov 27, 2017 I remember just getting broadband because I halo 2 and encore came out within days of each other. The leak was a little earlier and I remember thinking this was "absolute s---" as did most of my buddies on D12 world haha. I remember having "Never Enough" on repeat. I'll be honest I was one of the guys that truly believed it was a fake release/mess up/mixtape or something other than a solo album.
Nov 27, 2017 The release was an actual shitshow. I remember some people thinking it was "genius" having all these KMart tracks haha
Nov 27, 2017 https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl.../illmatic$20before$3A1994$2F12$2F11|sort:date Oh hey look, people discussing Hip hop online in the early 90s!
Nov 27, 2017 Don’t think it’s a “f--- you” album, but definitely do think that all those s--- songs are right in a row in the middle of the album for a reason. Don’t think the Encore we got was what Eminem initially wanted to release. In the minority, but this isn’t a bad album. Solid 5/10.
Nov 27, 2017 My Fault is f---ing atrocious. Plus I'm pretty sure he completely stole the entire shrooms concept from Xzibit, who included a song called Shroomz on his 1998 sophomore album 40 Dayz & 40 Nightz (which came out like 6 or 7 months before SSLP?). Shroomz >>>>>>> My Fault Random side note, Xzibit's first 3 albums are incredible and way too often slept on. Not many rappers had a 3 album run to start their careers quite as powerful, or as high quality, as Xzibit did. There are a s--- ton of classics across those first 3 albums.
Nov 27, 2017 I remember I skipped school to buy Encore and listen to it and I was so disappointed. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I still can't believe how far he fell off and how quickly it happened.
Nov 27, 2017 I 100% believed the leak was an intentional fake. If y'all remember the Encore leak, then I'm sure most of you will also remember this...when the eminem show first "leaked", the leak had every song but it was just the beat and chorus on repeat. I assume the label did this intentionally to try and combat the illegal downloads. Since they had already tried to combat early leaks with TES, I for sure thought they tried taking the whole situation one step further by leaking Encore with a bunch of s-----y trash songs to confuse fans. Boy was I sadly mistaken when I learned the leaked Encore album was in fact the actual album smh. This album officially marked the end of Eminem's reign at the top. @Kon Edit: I just realized this thread is old as f--- smh
Nov 28, 2017 So do we know what the leaked tracklist was and what it was supposed to be if it wouldn't have leaked? I heard he pulled Ricky Ticky Tock and We As Americans from the album and replaced it with Big Weenie and a--- Like That or something..
Nov 28, 2017 I remember a snippet of Just Lose It came out on a Greenlantern mixtape and it only had the "this is the part where the rap breaks down" part. Everyone thought the track was going to be great lol
Nov 28, 2017 From what i can gather it looks like the actual album leaked, including Big Weenie. So did songs from Encore leak before the album was leaked that made him alter the final tracklist? Do we have any factual knowledge about what the tracklist would have looked like? This is intruiging stuff.
Nov 28, 2017 I read someone that nail in te coffin was recorded for Encore but it leaked and the leaked version was an unfished product... How true that is I have no idea
