Dec 17, 2017 Love Game, Stronger than I was and Beautiful pain stay underrated. I mainly agree with your Revival views for the most part. Other than that good reviews guys
Dec 17, 2017 Thanks. One of the reasons I was interested in doing this when Mike proposed the idea was to show you guys that I'm honestly not just a hater when it comes to Em's post-hiatus work. Glad to see those who actually read are seeing this.
Dec 17, 2017 This thread clearly needs more exposure than it has up to this point tbh. Nicely written track by track reviews and greatly put together. I think, I agreed the most with @Big Dangerous on this one, but I can see where @Michael Myers and @Freestyle come from. I would have rated Rap God, Walk on Water, Framed a bit higher and I also believe that Arose>Castle and Believe<9, but that's my perspective and I can understand where your stance is coming from. On and all, a good write up and I can appreciate the effort!
Dec 17, 2017 There's a lot going on here. So just skin read and looked at final scores. One thing I disagree with you all on; imo Revival > MMLP2. Still deciding if Revival fits at 3rd, 4th or 5th spot overall imo.
Dec 17, 2017 My thing is, for being up there pretty much every track needs to be fire, because Em's first 3 albums were nearly perfect, had around 1 max. 2 skippables or bad songs and the highs on those albums in cases were career highs Revival has "too many" lows even tho there are just 3 or 4 of them on a 19 track album and the highs aren't as consistent as on his first 3 albums Then again I said maybe it's kinda a rushed review but there needs to be a comparison to contain some hate the album gets but at the same time tackle/critique what's being hated on the album, in long time Revival will be a solid album being dragged down by its too low lows, scrap some tracks, make a 13-14 track album and have one good album
Dec 17, 2017 I get that the rainbow effect is kinda lame, it was just to seperate our reviews since we had different thoughts on most songs. Hower its also possible to put our names before it. Something for a next time to remember Also thanks for the feedback! Good to see people actually sharing their thoughts and not act butthurt about things we said about the albums. Koolo gonna be mad when he sees the conclusion though
Dec 17, 2017 Great stuff. Really liked the song by song review for both albums. My opinions probably align most with @Big Dangerous but there are a few areas where we disagree. Anyways, great stuff guys. Thanks for sharing. @Michael Myers @Freestyle
Dec 18, 2017 I actually like WoW. Kinda surprised so many people seem to dislike it. Album is s--- tho. Thanks for Castle, I guess.
Dec 18, 2017 I like Revival a lot better than MMLP2. Which is very surprising. My hype was all time high on MMLP2. My hype was low before I got Revival. And I ended up liking it a lot more than MMLP 2. It has better flows and I think the songs generally sound better music wise. I get them stuck in my head. With MMLP2, there are some songs I don't want to listen to. Revival is the best album since The Eminem Show. I think it beats Encore because Encore had the worst filler songs out of all his albums. Encore would have been a classic or near classic album if it weren't for the fillers. Although you could make a case for Relapse. But I feel that Revival had better highs than Relapse. Recovery was decent but too pop.
Dec 18, 2017 Agree with the Revival ratings however feel like MMLP 2 is rated too highly. Never known why Bad Guy is so highly rated by most people, before the final verse it's to dull and boring. Even songs like brainless and evil twin which i can actually enjoy were not anything amazing as they drifted too much like he ran out of lines at points. e.g. towards the end of second verse of brainless. But overall pretty good read
