Dec 18, 2017 You listen to OF knockout version of 2017 rapping about how they are gay. Stfu. Im just assuming s--- because ive only heard few songs of them and im not planning to change it any time soon. So don't tag me.
Dec 18, 2017 fair. my view of Revival is that there's a good collection of songs, but the album itself is not that good. it's scattered, messy, and lacks a clear direction (to the average listener). I mean, his direction was to have something for everyone, but only his core fanbase will understand that. Especially when the cover implies the album is a political statement.. when in reality there's a single anti-Trump song on here. But I will listen to it for the songs that I like.. it'll just feel like a shuffle playlist each time. Which isn't great but I don't mind.
Dec 18, 2017 @Koolo not sure if you have discussed this yet: I love River, but I was wondering how you think it fits on this album. It doesn't seem to be about him... If it about a fictional romance I just don't see it's place. Any ideas on this?
Dec 18, 2017 Walk on Water 8 Believe 7.5 Chloroseptic 7.5 River 6 Untouchable 6 Remind Me 6 Like Home 5 Bad Husband 6.5 Tragic Endings 6 Framed 8.5 Nowhere Fast 7 Heat 6 Offended 9 Need Me 5 In Your Head 9 -Grew on me a lot, hated his flow on second verse, doesnt match the beat that well, now im ok wth it- Castle 9.5 Arose 9.5 Lyrics saved the album, and the songs are not bad but forgettable, too much pop. I think my rating is kind of high
Dec 18, 2017 i like that em is becoming more human, i love all his recent interviews and its making me enjoy and appreciate the album even more, i love 2017 em
Dec 18, 2017 Yeah Probably best album of the 2nd half or his career. Reading thatr interview from the other thread where he indicates that the songs are varied gives the album a good context. Yeah he will not be 2001 Eminem, because that Em doesnt exist anymore, the Retrospective songs on this album. The concept songs. And some of the 'fantasy' songs are all a product of 2017 Em. Its like a mix of all 3 previous albums and Improved ideas from each album... IMO its definately above Relapse>Recovery>MMLP2.
Dec 18, 2017 If you could view this album as a compilation / remix / 'playlist' I think it would undoubtedly be viewed more favourably and rated higher. It's not up to par as an album but has a lot of great things for fans to get out of it.
Dec 18, 2017 Noo i can't see Need me over Remind Me and Offended. I agree with the rest, but i would've given to Tragic Endings and Untouchable an upper vote and Need Me the last one with the lowest one
Dec 18, 2017 Its just a laid back flow. Even my mom can flow like that. But to answer your question... Go listen to just dont give a f---.
Dec 18, 2017 I can’t separate the 2... In my rankings I have them split at number 1.. It’s basically the same song in 2 tracks..
Dec 19, 2017 It is very dope. I wouldn't agree it's his best flow of all time, but it's very enjoyable. Also his voice throughout / on emotional and 'gruff' songs like this, Castle, Arose ... he has more vitality in his voice. Like more realistic sounding passion. Doesn't sound like he's just straining a shout, there's something more pointed in his tone.
Dec 19, 2017 Agreed. Don't know if anyone already said this, but his voice in the last couple of songs reminds me of When I'm Gone. Same kind of emphasis
Dec 19, 2017 This album is fire! Eminem's 4th best album EASY!! Feel bad for all the people sleeping on this!!
Dec 19, 2017 I like River, In Your Head, Castle & Arose. One thing that I keep thinking about is that Eminem must watch a fair amount of modern Battle Rap (Not completely unrealistic as he created his own league a few years back, if only for Paul to run it into the dirt with horrible business practices) and I've seen a lot of people commenting on how his style is very similar to Dizaster now. Very multi-heavy, even though that's always been Em in a way, but the punchlines he was dropping on this project were very juvenile/simplistic/outdated to me. You're right about "In Your Head" though. That second verse is insane. And one of my favorite things about Em is his appreciation for the technical aspects of rhyming words. It's ridiculous how he is literally connecting rhymes in the middle of bars rather than the standard - the end of the bar. And he does the s--- for a whole verse by just bending what he has to in order to make it fit, if he even needs to... I guess at this moment, I like maybe four or five songs on this album, and at this stage in his career, I've accepted that this is the way it is.... I'm not expecting another classic any time soon, but I'm willing to dig thru his newer projects to find a few gems I can appreciate.
