The closest thing I've seen to Eminem's run was Tupac in 96 and 50 Cent in 2003.

That's just popularity-wise though. Eminem had this streak going from 99- until late 2002 where literally everything he put out, from his own albums, to side projects and guest appearances, were all nothing short of amazing.

And it was crazy because each time he released something it got better and better. I remember thinking there's NO WAY he can out do this(pick a project) and he'd come out with something that did. And that happened more times than I can count.

And then the calender flipped to 2004. While there were definitely little red flags popping up as early as late 2002 by the time D12World rolled around we were all floored. Then that summer we got the Lean Back Remix and Warrior Remix and there was a real collective worry about Encore. Just Lose It dropped and our fears were confirmed. This revisionist history about Encore coming out of nowhere has always bugged me so I wanted to clear that up.

You could even make a case for his run going from 97 to 2003. From Low Down, Dirty to Outro there never really was much to gripe about. 90-95% of his output during this period was nothing short of superb, whether it be freestyles, features, diss tracks, solo songs released on other projects (If I Get Locked Up etc). That's 7 years of being consistently great.

By the way, when was the last time you heard Warrior pt. 2? I thought it was pretty great, not at all like Lean Back.

It's been a while. I've always thought it was s--- though. That lazy drugged out flow was born there IIRC

agreed with this. Em was still killing it in 2003. I remember the first time i realised something sounded wrong was that 911 song with B-Real. that was right at the end of 03, if i remember correctly. its a pity he never released any solo projects that year. then again we did get all those diss tracks and the s--- off the dj green lantern tapes

Even in 911 with that f----- up affected "gangsta" flow he still had that uncanny ability where every rhyme fits and falls into place perfectly and effortlessly like a puzzle piece. It wouldn't be until Encore that he started to fall off in that department

also true. there was actually a lot of great stuff from 04-06 too. Welcome to D-Block was great, the song he did with Game was amazing. I'm sure there are others im forgetting. Plus there were the standouts on Encore and Re Up. honestly for me that era was better than anything he's done since his comeback, maybe excluding relapse and a few songs here and there.
