Apr 3, 2018 The whole temathic of walk on water - believe could be a decent album. Talk about his mistakes, his career, being a human and his battle with his own ego. The transicion of the “not afraid” and “rap god” superhero rapper triying so hard to surpass his own past to a humble rapper. Idk this morning i was reading “ego is the enemy” by Ryan Holiday and this come to my mind. the problem is that eminem is very out of touch musically speaking And he probably turns this theme in a s--- album.
Apr 3, 2018 I have a feeling Revival will be like Relapse. He will come back "soon" with s--- that appeals to the mainstream again and have great sales...I hope so anyway. I don't mean s--- that he had on Revival either. That was very poppy. I mean stuff that gets mainstream appeal. Maybe he will actually have a solo song get huge like Not Afraid. It won't be as big...maybe Berzerk level? That did pretty well.
Apr 4, 2018 Idk man... At this level of his career i think he should do a full album of “dont front” type songs if he wants. A good single dont work in 2018. Even in revival he is triying to surpass his success of recovery and failed (river). Another example? Believe is the most streaming song of revival beside the singles. He needs to drop a album original artistically speaking and let the good critics do all the marketing. Mouth to mouth marketing. All the internet are destroying revival because is bad music.
Apr 4, 2018 So @EminemBase you are saying when it comes to cohesiveness, it's not about theme, but about sound?
Apr 4, 2018 Pretty much yeah. I think it can be both, but never 'just theme'. If he sounds like a different character, a different person, style, rapper, everything from track to track... rap style but also musically... that can never be cohesive. Not to my ears anyway. It's a mess. You can't be Mr. somber mature minimalist backdrop piano pondering his career one minute then zany diarrhea man over goofy rock sample the next. It just sounds stupid. But, I think you can if the sound / tone is similar... just like "Rock Bottom" can sit on an album with "I'm Shady", because the production and his style sounds similar, it sounds like the same family of music. TES had a bunch of different themes for example and also musical styles, but Em produced most of it and all for the same album and he made those songs for that album in a certain timeframe, so they sound connected. That can't happen if he's picking a beat from this guy over here which he made 5 years ago for some random reason, then he's making a beat himself here, then Rubin pops up with a sample here, it's just random and a total mess. Pick and mix.
Apr 4, 2018 Best post in the thread tbh Accurate af Revival lacks any cohesiveness or consistency with subjects For example: bad husband is the ONLY ‘love song’ with substance and em reiterated that he’ll alwahs love Kim and she’s one true. The songs that proceed are tragic endings, heat(remind me p2) and need me.. which are all generic love songs. So he negates the entire bad husband song by having generic love songs after.
Apr 4, 2018 Definitely his biggest mess of an album. I thought MMLP2 was bad and maybe he's learn from that... Overlong, mixed up sounds etc. but he did it 10 times worse. He seems to have selective criticism. He knows every criticism about his accents and has just now after 7 years acknowledged the pop criticism fully, though doubt he'll change it... but he seems to conveniently not hear or care about the lack of sound, lack of cohesion and just a mish-mash of tracks thing. I just don't know how the f--- Eminem, Rick f---ing Rubin and Dr Dre... of ALL three people could listen to MMLP2, or Revival but definitely Revival and go "Yep. This makes sense". How the f--- does it make sense to them but EVERYBODY else is like "the f---?"
Apr 4, 2018 The original was completely slept on. This remix is pretty great and actually does the unfinished version justice.
Apr 5, 2018 Yeah, Relapse style is f---ing great. "I ain't nuttin’ nice, man I like to pull knives and I like to cut The poster addict for post traumatic stress I guess this is the most dramatic I’ve been in a while This is the closest that it's come to the Marshall Mathers I can hear 'em start to gather I don’t paint the portrait of the picture perfect Partridge family This ain't your orphan Annie, no this is more uncanny" ... Fire. I really believe R2 was a classic. From the caliber of R1... and 50 said before it that "the first one is a treat but the second one is 'exciting'", and they obviously would have saved the best for last. Such a tragic turn for the worst. Weak Em.
Apr 5, 2018 If relapse 2 actually existed, why give us the refill, and not just pack entire second disc in and call it something else. I heard a copy exists and is very very hard to get. Alot of songs were removed from hard drives. Much more then what leaked. Someone was selling a supposed copy of it on agoras dark web years back for alot of money.
Apr 6, 2018 I don't know if you noticed it too but Eminem finally removed the "REVIVAL OUT NOW" post as Pinned from Twitter and Facebook few days ago. I guess they're finally over this era, they gave up for good lol
Apr 6, 2018 A stripper really made a better album than eminem... Em should work with all these new cats, his lyricism on modern production would be dope Revival sounds so outdated
