I think it’s the after effects of revival. Lots of people lost interest in him. If revival had a better reception people would be more excited to see him perform new songs. No one cares to see river or like home live and we’ve seen a lot of footage these past few years of him performing his older material. Top all this off with him losing his voice and people just aren’t as excited as they used to be to see new live footage.

I could be wrong but to me it seems these 2 things, revival and him losing his performance voice, are why we don’t have huge threads for every show.

Edit: plus Ye, Daytona, the drake beef, as well as the upcoming Kanye and Kid Cudi collaboration album plus the nas album are (rightfully so) hogging a ton of the attention on this forum.

If it wasn't for Large Professor, I wouldn't even know that Em performed in NYC today. I think it's cool that he's wearing all these Old School shirts. But I think a bigger gesture would be more collaborations with these older artists (ie the song with Buckshot) or just bring them out onstage as a special guest (ie like when Jay brought out Kane at Barclays years ago).

There also used to be an Em section.

Things change man. Since the closure of artists sections, activity on here seems to have dwindled too. Koolo dun left the throne and s--- dun changed.

    Disorderly Progress What's cookin?

He massively deaded interest in him by being as predictable as he was on Revival.

    Especially after so long.

Some rap fans or people imply or say he does the same thing over and over, I saw a Nas fan once say something like 'at least Nas always sounds different, Eminem does the same thing!', which is just bizarre to me lol. It couldn't be more polar opposite. I'm a Nas fan too but he (as in his style, his voice, him) sounds the same as he did, basically 1994 and throughout his career. There's basically no range, no vocal changing, no major style changes (some musically - yes, but not rap style)...

Em was always surprising. In terms of his sound. I mean just look at say "My Name Is" compared to "Not Afraid". That is absurd. That may as well be a different person the style is so different. Everything too - vocal tone, flow, his writing, everything.

Every album, good or bad, you'd at least be like 'wtf is this!??' initially. Because it sounded so different to what he'd previously done. Like, remember hearing Relapse after waiting so long, like WTF??, then Recovery, right after Relapse?, MMLP2 had some traces of Recovery... but s--- like Rap God... totally new and surprising, and he stepped everything up x 100...

That kept him exciting. A lot of people underappreciate that aspect. They think it's all hits or this or that. A huge part of it was that, like 'how is he going to sound?', surprise drives interest; thinking you don't know what's coming and you might be blown away.

But with Revival he sounded exactly how everybody feared he might and did all the things we feared he would, all the most predictable things; the most predictable sounds... sounds exactly like Recovery and MMLP2, absolutely no surprise except for a couple of tracks, totally predictable subject-matter and approaches too and just all done a lot worse...

For Eminem, especially - that's killer. He did major damage to himself with it. He's going to have to come back seriously authentic and different to make anybody care as much again.

It's not just about being predictable too (though that's a big part. Because we all waited so long, then it was like '... Ok'., but it's the fact it was SO sell out, like it wasn't just rehash of sounds but rehash of commercial, cheap, easy garbage... so it's just like ... Man. f--- you. Seriously.
