    I wish the second verse was as strong and aggressive as the first verse. He should have stuck on the whole aggressive and cocky theme from the first verse instead of switching to talking about people in jail which he’s already done 100x.

    @Henny I think the jail/cycle bars are needed to speak to the younger generation. He doesn’t want to go without having any substance. We have already heard him touch on all that but the new youth needs to hear it. He’s bridging the gap. Ties in with the middle Child theme

    @Nav Bhatia When Cole gets in these pockets his flow is hard to top. Killer Mike, Kenny, Joyner, Drake can do this too but Cole has his own cadence and way of making bars continuously melodic and catchy. If he does this all year then jeeeeesh good god

    My wife is a casual music fan and she loves Middle Child. She said it sounds different than his other songs and she likes the beat and the lyrics are catchy

    So the song will most likely go over well in the mainstream
