    Just to be CLEAR. Lol

This is not at you. I’m just adding to my post

I said “Compete”. Not better. Just, compete.

I feel this is strong enough to step in the ring at least with “The Slim Shady Lp”.

The other two may never be topped. And cool. I don’t want them to be.

But TSSLP I think may have finally found some competition

Can’t agree, though I respect your opinion. I would agree that it sits safely at #4, and that he is in his 2nd prime. If you were a listener back in 1999 when that album came out - nothing like that existed at the time. He changed rap (and arguably music, period) with that album.

Imo, that’s why SSLP is a classic, not just because of the actual content of it - the reception, buzz and controversy it caused. It’s likely no artist will ever be able to do that again.

That I startled my mom and had her scared to death
    Word to Method Man
She heard some Wu-Tang coming from towards the patio
She was like, "What the heck was that?"
She went to check on the noise and go inspect the deck
Then I jumped out with a sword and yelled, "Protect your neck"

eminem just gtfo , this wordplay is fkin insane

It will always be a classic, but that doesn't mean it can't be bumped to the fourth spot. I'm with you on SSLP's excellence, and importance, as an album - but M2BMB has superior lyricism, superior beats and a real return to form for Em. Parts of this album even sound like they're from his Golden Era. The mixtape feel in parts of this album really works too. He hasn't sounded this comfortable in his own skin since 2003.

If you hadn't listed the tracks from both the album, I would have never realised how vast the difference between current Em and prime Em is. Not only is MTBMB not on the level of SSLP, it is not even in the same league.
MTBMB is good, but SSLP is a classic.

That is very much up for debate. There is a reason SSLP always sits at the bottom of everybody's Top 3.

with all that classic or not or on the same level or higher as sslp talk going on in here, I just want to say that you should enjoy the music and appreciate that Em is still giving us some really good music 20 years after his breakout. Who is doing that? I mean most of us thought he was done after Revival and he came back with two really good albums, and even better he isn't going to stop soon. I'm really excited for whats to come and enjoying his old and his new stuff, not giving a sh*t about if it's better than this or that.

Tbh everything is up for debate. Music is subjective, so I'm generally more tolerant of people having different opinions. But the thought of MTBMB competing with SSLP is almost blasphemous to me for some reason lol
