A lot of people aren't really familiar with 50 Cent material released before his major debut Get Rich Or Die Tryin. I recently dived into his mixtapes and must say there's some really good stuff.

Here's a list of the projects he did.

    Albums:
    Power Of The Dollar

(Originally meant to be released as 50 Cent's debut studio album: however, its release was cancelled after 50 Cent was involved in a shooting two months before the album was set to release.)

    Mixtapes:
    Guess Who's Back?
50 Cent Is the Future (With G-Unit)
No Mercy, No Fear (With G-Unit)
    God's Plan (With G-Unit)

You can see early on that he was talented and had an exceptionally good ear for music and hooks. When you listen to some of the stuff that's on there, it's really not a surprise that he became so popular once he got that major label push.

Anyway, post some 50 tracks (Pre GRODT)

I'll start off with this absolute classic

So many classics posted. Love this thread! Pre GRODT 50 is goat.

Power of the dollar and guess who’s back are 50’s best projects. I personally rank them higher than GRODT but I understand those who disagree.

Don’t sleep on the repercussions. If a nickel bag sold in the park I want in on it, the bs I’m on right now n----- I been on it!

Yup, it was on the No Mercy No Fear mixtape. Later ended up on the 8 Mile soundrack.

Another gem from Power Of The Dollar. Shame it's so short.

    Whew

That one is straight heat. One of my personal favourites as well.

A bit off topic but fif has some real solid mixtapes and side projects that he did throughout the years.

Get Rich Or Die Trying (Movie soundtrack)
    Bullet Proof (Video game soundtrack)
    The Big 10
    Kanan Tape

I'm actually listening to War Angel LP right now. It's a mixtape he dropped several months prior to Before I Self Destruct and it packs some heat.

Just found this interesting bit of info about it..

"The rapper stated his new project entitled War Angel LP, would be more like a "street album" than a mixtape. 50 Cent also claimed that it will be the "best" underground project to date.

Power of the Dollar is a great album. And easily his best rapping ever.

He was never the best lyricist, just a good hook / hit maker, but on POD he was still decent - as a rapper, he still had some wit and good writing. After this he was total trash, like Get Rich is a classic album but due to its overall construction - the beats, the hooks, the visuals, the songs as a whole / his raps, lyrics, are embarrassing.

Anyway, this is one of my favourites:

That energy is f---ing electric. He could have been a genuine great if he kept that kind of s--- up. The lazy s--- which would follow is a shame.

Check out the Automatic Gunfire tape with G-Unit. It was part 4 of the 5 part G-Unit mixtape series before the G-Unit Radio mixtapes and one month before the release of GRODT. Many standout tracks like b--- b---, Round Here, Doing My Own Thing, G-Unit Anthem (50's verse is great), Cross My Path and the original releases of In Da Hood and I Smell p----. Also, some funny skits too mocking Ja Rule since this was during the height of their feud.
