Oct 22, 2020 Yup. I think I was a freshman in HS when he dropped Rebirth. I remember liking it, but thinking why the f--- is he doing this? Fast forward to I am Not A Human Being/2 and he kinda fell all the way off for me. Wayne is one of those artists that no matter how bad they may fall I’m always going to check their new stuff out. I still very much so love me some Wayne and he is for sure one of my favorite rappers ever. f---ing great question
Oct 22, 2020 Homies Still. the best part about Wayne, though, is that I’m still finding songs from his prime that I’ve never heard before to this day.
Oct 24, 2020 I'm taking it way back here but 04-07 Wayne was so untouchable, absolutely everything he touched was immaculate. One of - if not the - greatest run in hip hop history. Every verse, every bar was felt like you were listening to some kind of anomaly, like a once-in-a-lifetime event. I mean everything from C1 to C2, D1 and 2, through to Drought 3, the C3 leaks, every single guest feature and freestyle - all of it was that f---ing good! C3 is great but there were few signs he was starting to lose steam, but I think the first time I realized that God-status couldn't last forever was on Dedication 3. I think that was the first time I ever heard Drake as well. It wasn't bad, but there was definitely something missing. He's put out some amazing music since but I don't think he'll ever reach that level of effortless genius that he had back in the day.
Oct 24, 2020 wayne never came close to falling off, his whole career is littered with insane level tracks followed by mids. he’s consistently been either amazing or mids
Oct 24, 2020 Hmm I'd day as early as IANAHB. Its funny cos I also remember thinking he was done when I heard my homies still This Wayne was untouchable
Oct 25, 2020 When Rebirth dropped. I had to check if I listened to the same dude who dropped C3 the year before.
Oct 25, 2020 In i think 2009ish ppl on forums would poke fun at him or bring up outlandish punchlines
