Dec 20, 2020 Exactly, people are getting way too excited calling this an album and worrying about sells.
Dec 20, 2020 This is not a "new" project and it counts towards MTBMB so why should you even care about first week ?
Dec 20, 2020 Paul wont like this. Expect pop stars, a tracklist a lead single and 4 year wait between now and his next album
Dec 20, 2020 ehhh. First week doesn’t mean it won’t sell in the long run. At this point in Eminem’s career as long as “stans” are happy he’s happy. It’s not like he put out this album because he desperately needed money.
Dec 20, 2020 I think after Eminem has made 5 trash albums after Relapse people are tired on checking for him. Sad because this is his best album since Relapse and most consistent, even the beats are good. Oh well.
Dec 20, 2020 d--- 80k for Em is shocking. Never thought I'd see the day. That's physical and digital. Wow. Not that I care, but I know Em will - no matter what he says, he always uses sales to gauge the quality of an album, referenced in many lyrics, it's obvious. Looks like the critics are reacting the exact same way they always do as well, completely ignoring the amazing new aspects to the music and his rapping, pretending there's no innovation or change in the production 'same old', 'mediocre' etc. and just focusing on their dislike of his shtick and making it all about woke culture... Hopefully this doesn't discourage him to change course back to a pop/pandering route.
Dec 20, 2020 This is an deluxe album, so of course it’s not gonna sell crazy numbers. You do realize it’s the same situation with relapse refill. That did sell crazy numbers when it came out months later, and recovery dropped 700k+ I swear most of y’all don’t think
Dec 20, 2020 It’s not a sequel it’s basically a double disc, and sells are going towards the same project
Dec 20, 2020 It is exactly like Relapse: Refill. The fact that EM put these many songs on a deluxe points toward him having ALOT of material recorded in 2020
Dec 20, 2020 But it's a whole new album. Just because they packaged it deluxe, probably to double his numbers or try shift more of the original doesn't mean it's not a new album. So why wouldn't it sell crazy, it's not a few bonus tracks, it's a new album.
Dec 20, 2020 It's nothing at all like Refill. Refill had 6 new songs. That's barely an EP. This is 13 new songs, skits, this is a new album he has crafted. Not leftovers or extras.
Dec 20, 2020 will this be listed as his 12th album? you guessed it’s not.like I said it’s basically like a double disc project. He already said early on that there was songs he wanted to put on the album. Probably add them, and put a few new tracks
Dec 20, 2020 Lol, why do people keep saying this. 13 new songs + skits, 16 tracks = new album. Just because they packaged it with the original to sell more of the original, with it, doesn't mean it's not a new album.
Dec 20, 2020 If Eminem continues to follow this pattern of releasing music, his next album will sell even less. Kamikaze sold 400к first week, because it was the first time of a surprise release from him and, well, people were really curious about all the dissing. He doesn't need a big a--- promo campaign and a pop artist on a single to boost his sales, but it's necessary for him to grab people's attention from time to time, take parts in some activities that a lot of random people are familliar with: let's say, Jimmy Kimmel scatches or be a guest in some podcasts, that are not connected to just hip-hop. Because right now, with the way he does things, he barely exists as an artist for casual listeners .
Dec 20, 2020 It being in the same realm as Murdered By already dissuades consumers, especially if they didn't like the first release. The "surprise album" shtick is also getting old. I've been away from this forum for the past few months and only learned about the album when I saw some songs from it on YouTube...so unless you're going out of your way to hear about this high-profile artist's new releases, chances are, you'll miss it. I don't think it's a "if they don't see the tracklist they can't trash it" anymore type of deal. The first Murdered By had some promo, on the day of release... Maybe he doesn't want so much attention? Maybe he wants only the diehard fans to hear his stuff? Who knows.
