Dec 24, 2020 You know as well as me that when someone says "over a decade" or whatever time period, they mean "about a decade" or whatever time period. If it was 15 years, he would have said 15 years. Nobody says "over a decade" when they mean 15 or 20 years. Could be 10 or 11. That's "over a decade".
Dec 24, 2020 Well like I said, I follow those who are authentic (to me). Stevie hasn't lost his authenticity. He didn't f--- with Tone Deaf. Scriptwork are still great. And now that someone pointed me to VibeVilla, those are very genuine too and you can tell they are big fans (although JayZ is their #1) because they know the words to most Eminem songs.
Dec 26, 2020 Thanks @Chuny for his thread. I like going through the reaction videos. What do you think about Knox Hill? I watched some videos of him now and I like how he is not only explaining the bars, but also sometimes explaining rhyme schemes and give more attention to the beat. I also like that he doesn't have so many cuts within his video. But on the other side I think that he is missing some more bars than other reactors.
Dec 26, 2020 I honestly don't trust that guy. There's something about him. I wouldn't be able to prove it but I think he watches other reactions, reads Genius or the Lyrics and then goes and records his own video and try to add something else like explaining the beat/flow/whatever. For example, if you watch his reaction/breakdown of Alfred's Theme... he stops the song exactly when he knows the bar/punchline is going to end. And, when it gets to the Bawling scheme, he let it ride until the end of the scheme which was extremely odd, since every other reaction video paused it before it ended (at about "I'd describe it as bowling: ball hard" because they thought the bar was finished, yet he "somehow" knew he had to let it ride until the "when the beat is up my alley I go right for the pins/pens". Very suspicious. And there are many other stuff like that along that song, and in other songs too. Also when he reacts to a line or a bar, you can tell his expression is not genuine... like he heard that line at least a couple of times before. But apparently he's the best for some people.
Dec 26, 2020 Nice catches. Maybe you are right. Maybe he's not the most trustworthy person in terms of reaction videos (meaning hearing a song for the really first time) but rather for 'just' explaining the songs. Idk I still like the way he describes things around the melody/beat/rhyme scheme, but also take his videoos it with grain of salt.
Dec 26, 2020 Well, for me: In terms of breaking s--- down genuinely, the best are Scriptwork. By far. In terms of reaction+breakdown, I think the best is Stevie Knight. He may not get every single bar, but he combines the best of those two worlds. Then, TheThirdErnest is good too. But I find him annoying at times. And finally, VibeVilla. Really dope. My only gripe is that they edit their videos way too much. You don't get to listen to the whole song or see their reaction/breakdown to the entire thing.
Dec 27, 2020 Is it me or all the Eminem reaction videos are made by black people? Lol Not that it matters. Just an observation. But it's like they know they will gain a ton of views from white people if they praise their idol. Pretty sure most of them don't even listen to Eminem.
Dec 27, 2020 1. They react to many other artists when they put out new music. This is a Thread about Eminem. 2. Most of them say Em is the best artist to react to because he has a lot of bars, and most of those bars mean 2 or 3 different things at the same time. And because he also pokes fun or takes shots at different celebrities/rappers/artists. 3. Obviously, Eminem's fanbase helps a lot. If Eminem had 0 fans, some of these channels wouldn't even bother. But since Stans are so engaging... But then again, some of them have reacted to NF, HOPSIN, and other artists that don't have millions of fans all over the world. 4. There are plenty of white people who do this as well, I even posted a few videos in this thread. I don't know if they listen to Eminem outside of the reaction/breakdown videos, but some of them seem to because they know lyrics for old songs, and try to relate the content in the new songs with those in older songs. For example Scriptwork, The Third Ernest and VibeVilla do f--- with Eminem's music since way back. Stevie Knight has made it very clear that he started appreciating Eminem's music as he started doing these reactions because he wasn't checking for Eminem before.
Dec 28, 2020 The thing about all of these people who react is that it often doesn't feel genuine. They praise everything Eminem says and never crtisize anything or give an honest opinion if a line is wack because they don't want people to dislike their video. There's no way someone can like every single song, every single line. But these guys act like every track is the dopest s--- they heard.
Dec 28, 2020 That's why I appreciate that one dude who "trashed" "Alfred's Theme", because it felt like a genuine reaction from him.
Dec 28, 2020 And you can tell he liked some of the bars, he just didn't like the beat, and disliked the fact it was just him rhyming for the sake of rhyming, and ended up saying he wouldn't listen to it again, which is why he "trashed" it. But yeah, a lot of people won't give their honest reactions because they don't want to get swarmed by angry Eminem stans, like LayedBak did (9.8k likes versus 3.4k dislikes, man the stans were salty).
