Eminem MMLP vs. TES?

    Both classic records, and the main two contenders for Eminem's greatest album.
    Which one is best in your opinion? Or are you based and think neither is Em's best?

    Mmlp made a bigger impact on hip hop / pop culture but I prefer the refined Eminem on his own production on TES.

    I hardly ever revisit mmlp but often queue a few songs from TES.

    Why SSLP? Dope record for sure but most would put it behind MMLP or TES

    Imo his best album is either SSLP or MMLP and TES isn’t really in the conversation for me.

    I think Slim Shady LP was just the perfect storm of these zany cartoon stories, emotional personal narratives, comedy, fitting/good production, and technical skill. I wouldn’t cut any songs from it.

    MMLP you could shave off a couple songs and has also aged a little worse than SSLP imo because of so many dated references.

    TES has too much filler for me and also comes across as dated/melodramatic despite having some of his greatest songs of all time (say goodbye Hollywood, till I collapse, etc) and like I said in another thread I’m not as into the stadium rock anthem stuff. I think this was when he started to lose a little of his spark that gave his work from slim shady EP thru devil’s night it’s edge.

    I agree, SSLP was put together really well. It's one of those albums that's solid both narratively and musically. I also really dig the way it sounds, a lot of those beats are so unique. It's hard to describe but I remember when I first heard it it sounded like an entirely different world.

    MMLP is probably always gonna be my favorite. It's got so many classic tracks on it, great features, well-produced. To me it's the perfect blend of the raw s--- he was doing initially and something more "mature" or polished.

    I was never as into TES. It's a great record but I agree the raw edge is kind of missing. After that record I don't think he ever really got it back.

    Mmlp ALL day long the tracks you can make from his 2000s songs make a WAY better album than what you could do with tes. But i do appreciate that it was more technical lyrics
