Jan 13, 2022 Eminem and pop does not mix well. All the songs he has with Rihanna, Ed, Pink, Alicia Keys are generic, annoying and forced. Only time he has ever done something different and imaginative with it, was Stan. If he had Elton John on a chorus, just be generic song about overcoming the odds or a love song on poppy beat with 3 24 bar verses and repeat the the hook. So many ways he could use a artist like Elton John or Alicia Keys to make something big and different but he never does. Just repeats the same redundant topic and formula Cocaine is another example of a what I consider using a singing artist to good use and coming with something different.

Jan 13, 2022 Going through changes and beautiful (controversial but walk on water) are two other good ones imo. I think the key is to make actual deep music with the intention to not be a smash hit so it's more than a cookie cutter "deep" song like the monster.

Jan 13, 2022 I honestly think The Monster is one of his worst songs in his career. Couldn’t get a more generic topic, he not actually saying meaningful, just generic lyrics to be relatable for the sake of it, horrible beat, verses are all quick fire, just so the hook can come in as quick as possible. Rihanna was clearly just added on to the pre written hook, sung by someone else, just so it charts better and has her name to it. Finally it was on a album that has the MMLP name attached to it and is one of the main visuals from the album. Horrible all round.
