May 29, 2024 Encore theory: "When I'm Gone" was originally meant to be the closing track but was scrapped for whatever reason. This seems likely since it ends with the sound of curtains closing, and was written in 2003 and recorded in early '04, according to wiki. It may also be why there's an official (original?) version of the track "Encore" with an instrumental ending instead of him shooting all the concertgoers -- whereas in "When I'm Gone" he kills Slim Shady instead. In any case this alternate ending is much more interesting imo, and would have make "My Darling" as the opener on Relapse even more appropriate, since Relapse would have picked up where Encore left off ("But I already killed you!"). But who would've thought 20 years later he'd release an album based on this idea? I'm intrigued.
