Jun 13, 2024 I mean it’s a b-----r. And it’s with Morgan who’s #1 in country right now. I don’t think Post/Blake will chart like Post/Morgan but who knows. I just wish Em’s team wouldn’t let this hype disappear into thin air.
Jun 13, 2024 The only way Taylor Swift could compete with Morgan Wallen is releasing thousands of version. He is the hottest country artist atm. I can't even hate his a--- because
Jun 13, 2024 Agree on hating nice guy and liking kamikaze (you meant the song right? not the whole album?) Normal however has something that I can't describe that makes me enjoy it, maybe it's because Em's badly singing without sounding like a broken fax machine, idk what to tell ya on that one but I never skip it for some reason some of the s--- songs on kami got a pass when it first came out (anything was a f---ing glass of sparkling water on the desert after revival so I guess it's to be expected) but now that it's aging like s--- on some aspects and the shock of Em "giving s--- back to those d--- critics" has worn off it's gone down a couple of steps no?
Jun 13, 2024 Nah I meant the project bar those few songs. I didn’t like those songs on the initial listen as well — Normal in particular was so jarring to me after The Ringer, Greatest & Lucky You run. Pretty much straight away I made my own tracklist putting Not Alike straight after those 3 so the energy is maintained. Kamikaze hasn’t lowered for me at all, I think he captured the vibe perfectly, he’s in his bag when he’s backed into a corner, the swagger he was giving off just rattling off bars against the industry, finally speaking up, standing up for himself, it still hits. I’d say the critics replying was totally redundant going forward though, it should’ve started & ended with Kamikaze. From then on it started to sound more whiny & bitter, I don’t feel that with Kamikaze at all.
Jun 13, 2024 Agree with everything here. Normal after that opening stretch, and then the Paul skit, followed by the Em skit into Stepping Stone is awkward. And I LOVE that album. If it was my decision, I would’ve released that as an EP with this track list - The Ringer Greatest Lucky You Paul (Skit) Kamikaze Em Calls Paul (Skit) Not Alike Good Guy Stepping Stone Fall Venom
Jun 13, 2024 Now that you mention that, it might have been the songs that mention criticism on mtbmb that could have affected how I feel about Kamikaze (except for premonition, ironically) it kinda felt like he was stretching the concept a bit too much, it wasn't enough to be sprinkled throughout 2 albums and a deluxe imo (or 3 albums? is Side B its own album?), when you're a millionaire loved by 90% of the world there is a very thin line between "fighting back" and whining for so long when some criticism comes your way imo, but I do agree that it worked on kamikaze cause back then it really did feel like "everyone" turned their backs on him in a way something similar happens to me with the "love = hip-hop" songs that are good, I kinda roll my eyes when some of them come on cause it's such an unnecessarily big part of his discography now
Jun 13, 2024 They might be now, I think he kinda became self aware of how r-----ed he sounds so he overplays the part now
Jun 13, 2024 We can be Em fans and still be tired of this rollout. It's been 4 years since his last album and now they have been teasing us about this album since March Just give us the d--- date so we can stop guessing what week its coming
Jun 13, 2024 Ok I’m revising this into a top 4 Em album. Fight me. The Ringer Greatest Lucky You Paul (Skit) Kamikaze Em Calls Paul (Skit) Chloraseptic (Remix) Not Alike Good Guy Stepping Stone Fall Venom
