Jul 12, 2024 My thoughts after a first listen. Incredible record. Not a very complex concept, just Slim taking over Eminem, making Em and Slim himself say the most f----- up s---, untill Eminem kills him on GC and Slim gets back at him on Tobey. In the middle of Eminem killing Shady and vice versa, we see more mature, modern day Eminem speaking on his life, rap game, which I expected. After dying, literally due to his drug addiction and addiction to Slim Shady, Eminem bids everyone a goodbye. I thought that he stuck to the concept really nicely, though the bars about PC culture, trans people, midgets got a little overboard after a while. But massive life-sized props to Eminem for choosing a concept and committing to it no matter how corny it could look to some. A win for Em as he conquers one of his weaknesses. Production: Top f---ing class. Every beat was a hit to my head. Even the softer cuts were incredible. Temporary and Somebody Save Me, this is how you make pop-rap. Perfect execution. Lyrics: There is some cringe as expected, but Eminem is playing a role and I am not meant to take it seriously. Rapping wise, top of his game in every aspect. The old voice and flows are such a treat. Features: Could have been more rap features but I am happy with a JID ft. Overall: 9/10, could most likely knock SSLP out of the park. This is how you serve "something for everyone" on an album. It had deranged s--- for Shady fans and some modern rappidy rap, mature stuf for the ones who came much later, without getting away much from the concept. Bravo EM. I want more of it. I feel hungry already. Standouts: Renaiassance, Habits, Trouble, Evil, Lucifier, Antichrist, Fuel, Guilty Conscience 2 (he breaks the heights of self awareness here like a mf), Temporary, Somebody Save Me. No single bad song really that makes me skip. Incredible for a 51-year-old old light years away from his peak. Not perfect, but I'd take it over Kamikaze-MTBMB all day.
Jul 12, 2024 My thoughts exactly, some songs are amazing, and some others had the potential to be but the choppy and rappity rap flows (even though a bit toned down) brings the rating down a bit for me. And I'm not sure about everything after GC2... but then again Tobey grew on me the more I listened to it so perhaps the songs I'm not crazy about will also grow... at the moment I'm at around 7/10 and would probably place it as number 5 after the golden era trilogy and Relapse... but it might climb to 4th, we'll see...
Jul 12, 2024 Trending everywhere online… and most Americans haven’t even woke up yet. It’s gonna be a historic day, this album is going Number 1. He really bringing back 2002
Jul 12, 2024 Still like he even brought back mmlp2 on antichrist This albun is nostalgia bait in its best form for real
Jul 12, 2024 Hold on so that's why he has s-----y features and flows at the end? Cause it's modern em before getting killed on gc2? Yknow what, I'll try tomorrow
Jul 12, 2024 Utterly delusional comment. This album is okay, and refreshing to hear after years of rappity rap chop chop singles he’s released, but this does NOT break into his top 5. His top 5 remains: 1. TES 2. MMLP 3. SSLP 4. Recovery 5. Relapse
