Jul 13, 2024 Lol. Far from it. Its a 5 at best, maybe 6 on a good day. I listened the whole of yesterday and woke up today and didn't even feel inclined to go replay it. There isnt a single song that blows me away and make me wants to listen again and again. Its an interesting listen for sure but will soon get stale as the days go on like Houdini did. It isnt an absolute trash album like everything after Relapse was, but it's also nothing special. Ill give it a strong 5.5
Jul 13, 2024 I like that he taking artistic risks though. He went into this knowing it will be polarising and it’s the first time he has done so, since Relapse. The reaction of Relapse frightened him and he has tried to make albums for everyone since then; play it safe so to speak. But this album will be definitely polarising, divisive to fans and critics but can take tell this is one of his albums he was confident in, finally dared to experiment and be creative again.
Jul 13, 2024 ? Isnt megan considered the biggest rapper in the world now? Ignoring drake that it her first week she sold 60k are you ok?
Jul 13, 2024 Unfortunately fans of his earlier work didn't have to endure over-produced trap beats, random black guys doing hooks every few songs and s-----y features. If that was his intention he missed massively.
Jul 13, 2024 Just got the beat shady choose it line on Lucifer my god its way better when he doesnt pause or get it adlib it
Jul 13, 2024 TDOSS did 23.5 million more first day streams than Kamikaze and it sold 430k in the first week. Like Em said, "r-----ed people don't know they are r-----ed".
Jul 13, 2024 I hope it sells well. He deserves it for this album! Some minor critiques but the positives SMASH the negatives on this project.
Jul 13, 2024 It's a black person thing. Em also does the same when he says Tony Starks. Black people do it all the time "Joe Buddens" "K-Marts" "Wal-Marts" etc
Jul 13, 2024 man, we have a kid he signed but sucks and to make it worse didn’t even rap in English, White Gold who no one would ask for a hook and should stick to producing, Jelly Roll who is cool but it doesn’t really work and JID who makes music for you nerds that want lyrical miracles over charismatic artists. This album is good, but trade this weak features for Royce, Dre, Fif and Wayne or Nas and it’s automatically way better.
Jul 13, 2024 Some people are fans of his older work, but their tastes change or, maybe they still love the old stuff, but they want the artist to do something new to it instead of retread Also, while his older albums had dark humor, they were more creative. The songs had storytelling, non-sequiturs (unexpected punchlines). The subject matter has more variety. Those albums weren't just shock value alone; they had the other components of good comedy too.
Jul 13, 2024 The only issue is the lack of a big single, since Houdini is old by now, love it but they let people move on from it. There are no physicals yet either, can’t even preorder the standard yet.
Jul 13, 2024 I think I'm coming to terms with the fact of, this may be his modern-day Relapse in terms of reception The album will have a cult following as well as a lot of people who don't like it
Jul 13, 2024 I know when MTBMB dropped the CDs were in stores by the following Friday in the UK so to see the CDs and cassettes have dates months from now is shocking.
Jul 13, 2024 Relapse is way better than this s---. Relapse feels genuine. Em being recently sober, trying new flows, not being afraid to show his vulnerability. And it just has a quirkiness to it. It just feels like a person who got off drugs and is re-discovering their personality again. This new album just feels like Em just saying whatever things he possibly can to get in news headlines. Relapse felt like its own strange little world. This album is just derivative af.
Jul 13, 2024 Why don't you like JID? Honestly I feel like JID is heavily Wayne influenced and a great up and coming artist to feature. Idk just me.
