    Millions of dollars of military aid went to Israel under Trump. Trump cares far less about Palestinian people & their right to a state than Biden does.

    I realize rereading my post that the wording might have been a little confusing, but I'm saying exactly that, that Trump would also send tons of money to Israel in addition to stoking Christian nationalism etc. Which is why I'm voting for Biden

    A friend of mine made a good point: a lot of people assumed Trump would get a sympathy bump in the polls when he got COVID in 2020 & that just did not happen. So it's possible that many of us are jumping the gun (me included). It's estimated that Biden needs to win the popular vote by ~2 points to win the electoral college. He's currently trailing Trump nationally by ~2 points with a ton of uncertainty & a pretty big margin of error.

    Also, this shooting has completely taken talk about Biden's age/competence out of the media spotlight & that's a pretty big plus in itself.

    Heh, "also" is still underselling it. Biden is pretty reluctant about supporting Israel but Trump is obsessed with giving them a pass to do w/e they want.

    Can't really compare these. Tons of people got covid, so unless he'd be half dead, s--- wouldn't mean much. Getting shot at is more rare and he milked the f--- out of it too … but I doubt it will play that much of a role for neutral voters either. It didn't make him any more competent to run the country after all. At best it'll energize the die hards.

    lol no one's forgetting how incompetent Biden is. I believed he would get beat before this, but now it won't even be close. Dems had a chance before this to switch candidates but even at this point it won't help

    Yesterday was likely a moment that'll change America forever, also might be the final nail in the coffin for democracy and what this country is supposed to be about..

    Trump was talking about getting revenge in his next term constantly BEFORE this, now it'll be even worse..We're screwed.

    These articles were probably within minutes of it happening and needed fact checking before stating he was shot. Keep up the boomer memes though .

    Dems deserve to lose and lose badly. And they will.
    Anybody with half a brain over the last year and a half could see Biden can't be Trump.

    I think before yesterday had they swapped him out for somebody else there was a real opportunity to win but now that's out the window, too.

    I don't think the people asking for Biden to be replaced understand how politics works at a deeper level.

    All the alternatives (Harris, Newsom, Whitmer) have either low approval rating or low recognition. With only a few months left, that's not enough time for them to organize a full campaign. If this discussion were a year ago, yeah, but 3 months before the election. There's also other questions like what if some states don't allow the new candidate on the ballot; or what if the new candidate doesn't have access to the money that was raised for the Biden-Harris ticket?

    And in general, whether people like to admit it or not, the public sees swapping out an incumbent as a sign of weakness and instability. There's never been a case where an incumbent drops out and their party's new candidate wins, and when it was tried, the incumbent party lost by a landslide.

    Democrats aren't favored to win the presidency regardless of whether they keep Biden, but with Biden polling only 2% behind in swing states, it's probably better for Democrats to hope for a sample error (or an October surprise), rather than run a new candidate that could end up being 10% behind instead of 2%.

    You realize this is the same way it was initially reported by many rightwing news outlets too? Google hasn't even updated the headline in their search results for the one below yet and you can see they reported it as a fall and then loud noises in the wayback machine. Think about how much worse it would be to report a loud noise as an attempted assassination and then it turned out to just be firecrackers or something. It would be irresponsible journalism. When I first saw the video on a random social media account I didn't even know he had gotten hit cuz it was too far away to see blood and he'd ducked under the podium.

    All media is biased in some form but like...what do you think their plan would be by purposefully reporting a presidential shooting as a loud noise? How would that even benefit a leftwing outlet? With the 24 hour news cycle headlines can be easily updated and it's better to play it safe until facts are confirmed — esp with so much misinfo out there
