Jul 23, 2024 I'm now officially in the camp of the recording on Somebody Save Me is real - 100%. Worse than any BET or TRL footage from 2006-07.
Jul 23, 2024 i knew if i came in here a couple weeks after albums release there would be people changing their minds and hating on this project for no reason lolololol s--- is the best weve gotten from em since s--- idk? relapse?
Jul 23, 2024 I'm not saying TDOSS is my favorite album but I like it a lot though. I can objectively say that the rapping skill and production as a whole is superior to TES and MMLP. No verse on either of those projects is touching Fuel and that is just one example.
Jul 23, 2024 So the following songs are a---: renaissance is a poor man’s Premonition Habits is too long and boring beat Brand new dance is the exact s--- on encore we said was trash Evil, Lucifer, Antichrist all feel like the same song. Same boring topic. School shooter music. Fuel is the rappity rap bs you guys all claim to hate yet praise this? SPEEDOM was better. Houdini is a---. Made for high schoolers and soccer moms. GC2 has literally nothing to do with the 1st one. No Dre? Whole song is an embarrassment to a classic. Temporary and Save Me are a poor man’s Castle/Arose. These are terrible. Castle/Arose are 10/10. This is a slap in the face to his fans. Songs that are good: Trouble’s beat alone is the best on the album and it’s 30 seconds. Em is clueless Road Rage is dope. Slowed down beat, nice flow, and s----s on fat people. Made my day. Head Honcho EZ Mill spits two fire verses. Em spits an awesome verse. Beat is what I want to hear em on. Has replay ability. 10/10. Bad One is incredible. Sounds like a classic Dre beat. Love this song. Toney is the best song on the album imo. Nothing else needs to be said. This song is an instant classic
Jul 23, 2024 Fuel is a great verse but isn't that a bit of recency bias? I can't even begin to list all the classic verses those 2 albums have, Fuel had me nodding my head and making the lemon face but Soldier for example makes me wanna lift a f---ing car with my own hands and throw it. It's not just about the techincal aspect imo That's why 2Pac is one of the GOATs, passion and delivery mean a lot too, we should never forget that
Jul 23, 2024 Sad that it took you almost 2 weeks. You're supposed to put Brand New Dance in the good category though dumbass. You're loosing your touch.
Jul 23, 2024 I've felt the funky beat since the first spin and for a while that was the only song I had on rotation but I'm starting to skip it now
Jul 23, 2024 We might be saying the same thing here. MMLP and TES are my top 2 without a doubt. I would put TDOSS at number 3. It is a caliber of work that I didn't think Em could produce at this stage of his career. He flawlessly tapped into Slim Shady for the first real time since Devil's Night(I view Relapse as a separate persona, that ain't Slim. No shade bc I love Relapse). I can't critique anything about Em's raps on this album, just like the top 2. The albums in between TES and TDOSS all have valid criticisms. -Encore- goofy, druggy raps(farts, burps, kiddy humor) and lacks cohesion. -Relapse- accents/redundant serial killer content. Average listener can't really enjoy it. -Recovery- terrible yelling voice with corny punchline rap. Too poppy, horrible mixing, and so-so production. I used to love it but only listenable songs for me now are Cold Wind Blows, Not Afraid, No Love, Seduction, and Space Bound. -MMLP2- birth of choppy flows, weird delivery, and bad vocals. Production is off. -Revival- bad political content, vocals still off, dad joke raps, bad production. -Kamikaze- big step in the right direction however it is more of a mixtape than an album. Album loses focus. -MTBMB Deluxe- another huge step in the right direction. A few skips from filler songs but overall great body of work. Some minor complaints about Em's monotone flow on side B. Cool for a song or two but became weird. My only critique of TDOSS is EZ Mill's Taglog piece in his verse and Bad One's first two verses sound side Bish with the content.
Jul 23, 2024 I do think people judge on the scenario of "what could've been" for the greats, 2pac and Biggie could have easily made more classics or fallen off but I think it's time for them to be taken off top 5's for the people that do it out of obligation. If I went off of hypotheticals then Post-Swimming Mac Miller would be one of my favorite artists of all time if he kept making music
