Jul 24, 2024 this gotta be the worst take i've seen post coming back to these forums, and it's literally on the same page of someone saying MMLP2 is worse than revival
Jul 24, 2024 I thought it had a pretty proper amount, I dislike White Gold being used twice though even though he did fine on both Bizarre stole the show though and it's honestly the only feature I end up remembering fondly
Jul 24, 2024 As an album, I say MMLP2 is but the songs on there are far superior. Problem is, it’s just a collection of songs put together. Revival is s--- but at least feels like an album, all be it a bad one at that. Every song on MMLP2 is completely different from one to the next - nonsensical. Because it had so much potential, it’s really down his discography but Revival is just bad. Just can’t rate it lower despite having more distain for MMLP2.
Jul 24, 2024 MMLP2 overall isn't good, but it does hold some value. The first and last songs are dope. Monster is a good single I remember when this came out I was thinking that it could be Eminems last album. It sounded like a goodbye to me. Idk
Jul 24, 2024 I wish I could hear Rap God for the first time again. I remember the first time I heard the fast rap I thought my iPod was glitching. Now it’s normal but that first listen, sounded so fast. Lol
Jul 24, 2024 Lil Wayne bars on his new Cordae song, are good but they don’t sound that much different then Modern Eminem bars. OJ Simpson bars in 2024. I see no difference
Jul 24, 2024 Revival don't feel like an album. They both in the same bag. How tf you gonna have 'Believe'... and 'Need Me' or either of them and 'Like Home'. Or 'Heat'. It's all over the place and terrible. Epitome of a mess.
Jul 24, 2024 It’s the same for MMLP2 though. But all the songs are mostly great, that’s why it hurts more as the album had so much potential. Revival is just s---.
Jul 24, 2024 Pretty much. I think he could have moved 'Bad One' to where 'Road Rage' is, and cut 'Road Rage'.. then I'm sure he had 1 or 2 other great tracks, surely came up with other stories or concepts... bc GC2 is dope but it coulda done with another concept or story. Something like a 'what if I was gay' or like that on trans, I dunno why that song gets flack, the hook and how it was put out was not good but it's a p bold concept and executed, by him of all people, like a bold thing to do. Would have worked perfect here. But yeah GC2 def shuda been the last track. It's the death of slim shady, literally, the culimination of the concept and end of the story.
Jul 24, 2024 MMLP2 was a lot more cohesive, to the point where it is an album and not just a "collection of songs". The only tracks that don't have to deal with the overall theme of the album is So Much Better and Love Game.
Jul 24, 2024 It isn't cohesive at all. There's no overarching sound, there's a multitude of producers all working independent with totally different beats and styles of music... You got Em with 100 diff rap styles. So you go from the sort of... 70s, funky rap-rock of Rhyme or Reason to... pop-laden, Rihanna-ridden, Flo-Rida track bearing tinsel beat The Monster... to f---ing Stronger Than I Was... to Evil Twin? It's all over the place. Both it, and Revival are - and are his worst in that regard. But, obvioulsy the individual songs and rapping on MMLP2 are mostly great. Wheras Revival is the worst thing ever made by a human.
Jul 24, 2024 Mostly agree. But wouldnt say it's nothing special. The high points and songs Def are I think a new era which sort of obliterates everything since... Maybe TES I think. I mean it just makes all the yappity flappity intense ott flows sound so corny and annoying now
Jul 24, 2024 Excellent breakdown from this reactor. He actually critiques the music instead of forcing his views on it. This last part at the (1-50-00) mark really paints the full point of the album that I think people are not getting. To me this albums has many layers to it.
