Dec 6, 2024 i loved dve knd phenomenal speedom medicine man etc. so when revival came out and he’d doubled down on rick rubin’s “let’s make every song sound like it’s from a different album” formula that killed the cohesion on mmlp2, i was very disappointed despite enjoying individual songs like believe, untouchable, framed, offended, nowhere fast, castle and arose. it felt more like a mixtape than an album, same with mmlp2 to a lesser extent. then when he dropped the chlora remix it seemed like he’d finally learned his lesson. kamikaze absolutely sounded more uniform than revival or mmlp2 but the songs themselves were really not that great to me. there’s 6 solo tracks and normal and stepping stone are skips. i felt the same way about a+b. even though there’s more songs every one of them sounds exactly the same delivery wise. but that isn’t the same as cohesion, more like repetition. tdoss couldn’t be more different, all the songs sound like they’re from the same album, they tell a story start to finish, they’re all incredibly produced and he’s rhyming his a--- off. very happy with the album. total turnaround tbh
