Dec 12, 2024 that’s a good point about no favors. it is one of his better ‘list’ segments and it works very well with the verse and the beat. and you’re right it does drive the “f--- this bitchhhh” point home very well. lightyears better than revenge (?!) and the other features from that time. and yes the lists of rappers are a little cringy sometimes but i love that he wants people to recognize and listen to the stuff he studied. it’s the same reason he wears their merch on stage. im just not sure everyone appreciates that stuff as much as he does. it’s almost like film noir. very historically significant but also a bit dusty and veryyy niche. sftl is straight from the lab, or straight from the vault part 1, where koolo or nathan or someone unidentified leaked bully and all the other songs meant for that segment of encore, prompting em to replace them with my 1st single just lose it etc. that’s why those songs are all in a row. he was so pissed off from the leaks and out of his mind on pills that he replaced the whole segment with random druggy freestyles as a final f--- you. it was very difficult wondering whether he would be back with another real LP before relapse was announced. and all of this is to say that i’m very impressed with the way tdoss continues right where left off on the eminem show
Dec 12, 2024 The only rapper in their 50s that's actually good is Nas. The KD and Magic albums with hitboy are impeccable.
Dec 12, 2024 Not all of them, but he delivered. Also burned himself by dropping too many projects tho
Dec 12, 2024 Right. Antichrist, Renaissance, Fuel, Houdini...typical stuff you would expect from a washed up 50 year old rapper.
Dec 12, 2024 Well the song isn't Death of Slim material and it's not really replayable more than a few times but it was by no means terrible. Not much more to say
Dec 12, 2024 Lol the song Encore is fire, the back and forth, love the beat and the hook, one of the best tracks on that album (perhaps not so hard to be considering some of the tracks on there lol)
Dec 12, 2024 Just heard ”Hard knocks”, they played it on the Cameon podcast that Snoop visited, just dropped a couple hours ago. That song was pretty good imo but I only listened once. Waiting for the album to drop to properly listening to the whole thing
Dec 12, 2024 I’ve been very critical of Ems music for a long time now but y’all are crazy. This verse isn’t bad. Not what I was expecting but when does he ever do that. This verse is good enough for me. I’ve heard a few dozen verses from him worse than this.
Dec 12, 2024 After first listen, the album is Average to me. There are definitely some hits on here, but the production seems too polished and not raw enough to meet my expecations for a Dre & Snoop album. I feel there are too many songs that sound very similar. I am also not sure why the album needed 2 Intros? The album does not have a West Coast sound or Death Row sound or vibe to it at all. Overall sound: Snoop trying to sound gangster over Pop beats & hooks (Not a great mix IMO). Dre is still able to produce some good beats, but not consistently is shown on this album. Standout Tracks: Outta Da Blue Gorgeous Last Dance With Mary Jane Thank You - Best Track - Wish it was longer than 2.5 minutes Pressure - 2nd Best Track - Wish it was longer than 2.5 minutes Gunz N Smoke? - Expected a better beat for these 3, but nice to hear them all on the same track together. 50 rapping fast sounds a bit strange.
Dec 12, 2024 Great verse over a terrible beat. We are always too hard on his verses. I do want the angry Em back at times and the verse seems like it is begging for the angry Em instead of the calm Em. He seems to not know how to mix the 3. It seems his sound is either: Always angry (Too much) or Always calm (Too much) or Always Chopping (Fast rap too much).
Dec 12, 2024 Why did he not use any of his Death Row artists on this album? I don't understand it. He has some great talent on there: October London Merkules D Smoke Tha Dogg Pound Tha Eastsidaz Not putting Tha Dogg Pound on this album is criminal
Dec 12, 2024 the encore track is great, i turn the sound to 11 when he starts killing the audience haha
Dec 12, 2024 Snoop or 50 had the best verse on Gun Smoke. beat reminds me of ETA from the GTA soundtrack
