Lets all be honest, Eminem has been declining recently with the exception of a few good to great songs. I personally think he has it in him to create good music but he isn't getting his priorities right in terms of delivery, message and emotion. He seems focused on his flow but I will say that his lyrical ability has improved in some ways. I do think some people can be a bit too criticising with the good music he releases (corny punchlines) The thing is at some point I'm pretty sure almost every rapper slips out a corny punchline but they don't get spotlighted because they are not under the microscope. The CXPHER is probably the biggest highlight from present day Eminem for me.

I'm not really digging XV, there are a few of decent tracks like Twisted, Vegas and Fine Line but apart from that the album is pretty d--- awful with tracks like Guts Over Fear on it. some of the tracks had the potential to be great but Eminem just ain't cutting it anymore. really disappointed with the album tbh

I do like to listen to Shady XV, but it's an album that I would play maybe once a week while his older albums were played like 10 times a week. It doesn't have that spark on it that I still want to listen to it every minute or second of the day. A few tracks from the album are some I could listen to everyday but the other songs I don't like ruin the whole experience for me.

Ems problem is he is focusing too much on being technical with his lyrics. He has therefore pushed substance and his flow/delivery to the side.

Nice to see his 2014 - 2017 choppy period was just some autistic battle rap phase, and he finally got back to making digestible music.

I think it was just a phase of him watching YouTube videos of battle rap, similar to how Relapse came about because he was watching horror movies. Southpaw he probably went through a boxing phase, MTBMB- Hitchcock etc.

He sounds way better on a beat than those horrible acapellas he was doing.
