Mar 22, 2025 -common - jay electronica - kanye - lauryn hill - pharoahe monch - slick rick - big daddy kane - rakim -royce da 5'9 - biz markie - brother ali - dj premier -dmx the best one was probably DMX. he had a lot of energy (as you would expect lol) and was just a good performer. the last song of his set was of course ruff ryders anthem and during the song he stood on top of a speaker that was in the air (not easy to explain) while rapping. honorable mentions would be jay electronica and big daddy kane. when i saw jay electronica he brought a bunch of people ON STAGE with him when performing exhibit C and i was one of them because i was close enough to get on stage. it was wild and one of my most memorable concerts moments
Mar 22, 2025 Hang out downtown for sure! It’s just a ton of bars and restaurants and shops really, but it’s still a pretty fun time for tourists. TopGolf is cool if you have the money! Country Music Hall Of Fame as well, grand ole opry (which also has a nice mall next to it called Opry Mills)
Mar 23, 2025 Thanks man. Already got my tickets for the Opry. And planning on just checking out Broadway and Printers Alley really. How much is beer around there at the moment?
Mar 23, 2025 have you ever been to Santa's? Karaoke bar in a double-wide trailer that has zero taps and doesn't serve liquor, all they have is bottles and cans lol check it out @icecube if u want some real American culture (the owner looks exactly like Santa Claus)
Mar 23, 2025 Where abouts is that man? Always keen to try suggestions. Although draught beer is my thing and karaoke isn't! Actually man, you might be the perfect person to give some more suggestions for the rest of my trip as I seem to remember you're quite extensively travelled through the states. From Nashville grabbing a car and heading home into Kentucky for a couple of nights, then driving south through the Smokies for 2nts. Then heading east and driving down the coast through Charleston, Savannah and St Augustine. Then I'm doing a 3nt cruise to he Bahamas, then just staying on cocoa beach for a couple of nights before flying home. Things I'm keen to do is a bourbon trail in Kentucky, a steam train ride in the Smokies, drink craft beer on Asheville, a night time ghost tour in Savannah
Mar 23, 2025 How can someone go see the same artists several times and not get bored? I know people who've seen the same band like 10 times. Seems crazy to me lol
Mar 23, 2025 I love Savannah. It's nice to be able to grab a drink at a bar and if it sucks you just walk out on the street with your beer to the next
Mar 23, 2025 If I could rewind time I’d go back to see Eminem live. I’d even go to Colorado and be fine if he ignored my signs.
Mar 23, 2025 If it's an artist still frequently releasing music, their shows and sets are almost always completely different cuz they're touring for different albums. if it's for a legacy act they often play the same s--- in which case I'd agree in many cases, but there's an also aspect of community to it. For bands with cultish followings for example like Jimmy Buffet (RIP) or The Grateful Dead/Dead & Co you can make friends and end up seeing some of the same people at shows or just have a good time with likeminded people you'll never see again
Mar 23, 2025 Honestly I don't know Nashville really well I've only been twice for a couple days and my friend took me to it lol but I'm sure it'll come up on Google maps. I gotta be in the right mood for karaoke and I'd also agree with you on the draft beers. But if you're just looking to experience local culture with a bizarre atmosphere for a couple beers it's worth checking out. Appalachia is probably my least visited region in the USA so I unfortunately can't be much help there. Only places I've been in TN are Nashville and Chattanooga (and Bonnaroo Music Festival). Other than that I've spent a couple days in Lexington Kentucky and one night in Charleston WV (the drive thru the forest to get there is gorgeous but I was coming south from Buffalo). I also never made it over to Savannah when I lived in Atlanta but I've only heard amazing things. Make sure you try some BBQ with Carolina Gold BBQ sauce while you're in the Carolinas, that s--- is delicious.
Mar 23, 2025 I always stop there when I drive down to Florida for the night, so I usually just stick to the bars near my hotel since I'm beat from the 12 hour ride. But I remember liking the Black Rabbit bar. Electric Moon also which is a rooftop bar on the river and I stumbled into random bars in the area. There's a decent amount of places. I used the subreddit for Savannah and they have a wiki with all types of spots there I would check depending on what places you're trying to chill at https://www.reddit.com/r/savannah/wiki/foodanddrink/
