Apr 27, 2025 at 9:27 PM Watching episode 3. I must say these town council meetings are interesting, it definitely makes Jackson feel like a more close-knit community than in the game.
Apr 27, 2025 at 9:56 PM I figured this week would be a setup episode, but not sure how non gamer audiences are gonna take it after Joel's gone. The 2nd game was really well done but the story never got me in like the first one. Interested on how the viewership numbers will look going forward.
Apr 27, 2025 at 10:01 PM This is the weakest episode so far. I could even see some people getting bored by this, it doesn’t feel like a whole lot happened. We are on episode 3 out of 7, and I am starting to worry that this season is going to have some pacing issues. It was cool that we got to see the POV of the Seraphites for a bit though. I like that they’re doing more of a slow burn with Ellie and Dina rather than rushing their relationship. Like I said earlier, the town meetings make the community feel more realistic. But overall, this episode didn’t feel very eventful. Definitely more of a setup episode
Apr 27, 2025 at 10:41 PM The story went downhill after Joel’s death in the game and it does here to. I like the stuff they change from the game and scenes we don’t see. Apart from last episode, the series is at its best when it moves away from the game. Ellie and Dina’s story is complete nonsense in part 2 so I expect it will be here. Abbie’s I liked so I hope they show more of her arc but feel like her arc will just be put to the side and just be a sub-plot while the main focus is on Ellie.
Apr 27, 2025 at 11:33 PM It seems like they are trying to fix some of the issues with the game’s story. Only time will tell if what they’re doing actually works but I appreciate what they’re trying to do. At least with this version of the story we are not jumping right in to Ellie and Dina being in a relationship so I think/hope they are going to try to make that storyline more realistic. Also, Dina unknowingly giving away Joel’s name was a big improvement over the game as well. Fleshing out Dina’s and Jesse’s characters more is also nice. But some of these changes could bite them in the a--- if Abby’s story ends up being a sub-plot. Since the game is being split into multiple seasons though I am not super worried as of right now. I agree that when the series moves away from the game it’s at its best. If anything I think this season is exposing issues that the game had.
Apr 27, 2025 at 11:49 PM Just don’t care for Ellie or Dina in part 2 and also it’s no fault of her own, but the actress for Ellie is an issue in season 2 for what she is meant to convey and of course the physicality and brutality that needs to be portrayed, as that is main theme is just not believable. Thought she was great in part 1 but it’s not working at all in this season. Love the lore and side characters so I hope we get more of that. One of the best episodes of TV was the Bill ep so I hope we see more of that with Eugene for example.
