The last round had me listening to a Rakim album and skimming through a few others from artists featured on the mixtape. Ended up finding some more great tracks.

Will submit a review for the jank album shortly.

    RIPPER ROO’S RATING:
    7/10

I like the mixture of rap, rock, and pop on this tape. It’s always interesting to see the approaches to these tapes and whether they’re all the same genre or have more genre variety. Covering all 3 decades in this tape is impressive as well. In a way, you can really flex your knowledge with this.

I’ll get the negatives out of the way: there are certain songs that just do nothing for me. Looking for the Next Best Thing, Beautiful Loser, Nur geträumt, and The Gambler fit into this category. It’s not that they’re bad songs, in fact they are “good” songs. It’s just that they don’t excite me, don’t move me, don’t resonate with me, and I have no desire to ever listen to these songs again. In a world with so much music out there, this is an important factor to keep in mind. Sometimes it’s not enough to just be “good”.

One thing these tapes have showed me is I’ve heard A LOT more music from this era than I thought I did, I just didn’t necessarily have the ability to name the songs or artists off of the top of my head. I’ve heard a vast majority of these songs. However, Cambodia was the nice surprise and biggest highlight for me on this mixtape. It’s one of the few songs on here that I’ve never heard, and I really enjoyed it. It was so great it got me a tiny bit emotional even though I’m feeling very cold-hearted today. That second verse really got me there.

Most of these other songs are great I just don’t have a whole lot to say about them tbh. One song I do wanna mention though is Torn. I love this song and am so glad it was on the tape. It’s one of those songs I heard a long time ago and completely forgot about but in the dark, almost inaccessible corners of my mind it still slightly existed. It’s like I unlocked a new section of my brain again. I know I’m not overwhelmingly positive about this tape so that’s why it’s not 10/10, but 7/10 is still a good score. There are a bunch of songs I don’t care about but it’s still a good tape nonetheless. @AOTWClub

Jankland - I forgot the name of it

Great dancing playlist, with some peak Rnb cuts. Nice theme and really well put together. I enjoyed it a lot even though it's not really the type of music I usually listen to.

    9/10

Not sure my effort for these review can get any lower, soon I will just be posting scores.
