May 19, 2025 at 3:07 PM Wow man! Thank you for the very nice review and for giving the tape such a high rating despite not enjoying a good portion of it. I appreciate that you found the thing refined and tasteful; Last thing I’d want is to come of as a posh indie r----- with my picks but I do realise the song choices kinda achieved exactly that on both of my submissions lol (my music taste has been pretty cooked for years, worked at a record shop years ago and that did it no favors either). Hopefully my next mixtape/album entry clicks with you more. Again, thank you!!
May 19, 2025 at 8:37 PM One year??? Holy f--- idk if time has gone slow or fast, but regardless seeing another rotation around the sun is always a blessing shoutout y’all, one of the few main reasons I check back here
May 20, 2025 at 1:18 PM Jimmy Jazz - At The Edge of Light Soo the mixtape starts out a little slow. No judging btw, an observation lmao. I like the Cure song and the others are cool too but I have to be in a certain mood to listen to music like this. Especially when its a few in a row. Satori is not a bad instrumental; I just can't enjoy music without any rap or singing. Guns of Brixon is f---ing great! The Wire song is nice but not really my thing, same with Hurt a Fly. Elictricity is a dope more upbeat song! Kracked is not my thing at all sorry. Add it Up is great!! Dirty old Town is such a nice western themed song but also have to be in a certain mood to enjoy it. Perfect to relax too though. I like Spellbound and the Killing Moons. Last 2 songs are not exactly my thing sadly. Very interesting tape. Not all of it is my thing, but the fact that I haven't heard any of these is a huge plus! And obviously a few to liked songs. That is what makes this so fun! Thanks brother! @Jimmy Jazz 7.5/10 @AOTWClub Also the bold text button is f----- up not sure how this post gonna look lmao
May 21, 2025 at 3:06 AM @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau Jimmy Jazz - Edge Of Light TL;DR I really loved this one, a lot of songs that were new to me which made for a very fresh listen. Vincent Craine was a cool opener, a bit more atmospheric and takes its time comparatively to some other openers for these mixtapes but I appreciate the change. Disintegration (and The Cure in general) is a major blindspot for me but I really liked Last Dance, keeps in line with the moodiness of the tape and is really easy on the ears. Same for The Saddest Song, I don't think I ever heard morphine but this was a great introduction! Satori was dope, I like the commitment to having some fully instrumental tracks on here. Breaks up the pacing really nicely. Idk where I've heard it but Guns Of Brixton sounds very familiar, it's The Clash so it's not like it'd be hard to stumble across a bunch of songs of theirs though lol. Great track all around! Idk if I've heard Wire but Single K.O. was cool, again it fits perfect with the mood of the tape. Very cohesive. Gonna have to check more of their stuff for sure. I Would Hurt A Fly is one of my favorites on here, love everything about it but the guitar tones especially captured my attention. The singer really reminds me of another band but I'm blanking and it's bugging me but I love his voice. Electricity is dope, really nice to have some uptempo cuts in the Playlist as well, another favorite. Kracked is f---in awesome, not much to add lol. Love it all around. Add It Up is cool, really grew on me. I can see my brother digging this one as well I'll have to show it to him for sure Dirty Old Town is dope, a part of me wish it was fully instrumental and sounded like the intro for the whole thing but thankfully the song as a whole is still great. Another favorite for sure, very relaxing. Free Money is incredible, Patti Smith is another blindspot I need to get into more but this portion of the tape really solidified the score I'm gonna give it. Siouxsie And The Banshees are great and Spellbound is no exception, huge fan of this one. Adored The Killing Moon, really need to listen to more Echo cause I've loved everything I've heard from them. I liked Legendary Hearts but I need to sit down and listen to more Lou Reed and Velvet Underground to get more used to his voice, it works great for the kind of music he makes but I always have to reacclimate to him and his delivery. Sounds great when you get used to it tho! Bar Italia is a dope closer love the vocal delivery and instrumentation here it's calming in a depressing way. Overall love this tape, I was in a particular mood that made the slower songs hit better for me than it seemed to for other people which makes me grateful that I was in the mood even if it sucks in the moment lmao Favorite Songs: The Saddest Song, I Would Hurt A Fly, Electricity, Kracked, Dirty Old Town, Free Money, Spellbound, Bar Italia RATING 9.5/10
May 21, 2025 at 11:26 AM Haven't really been in album listening mode lately so trying to catch up to releases I've missed, for any of my fellow cringe people that listen to a lot of punk and emo I highly recommend this one: You Omniously End is a personal favorite
