May 25, 2025 at 9:58 PM Elllie was haphazard in the second game but d--- she is worse in this season. Jesse saves the day and Dina doesn't even give as much as a thank you. Guy who plays Jesse is spot on btw. Was hoping they wouldn't do him like the game. I’m not a fan of how they’re splitting Ellie and Abby’s stories again. It worked in the game, but for the show, it would’ve been better to intertwine their arcs. They didn’t mind jumping ahead to the porch or dance scenes early on, but still chose to follow the same structure, and it just doesn’t translate as well to TV. Season one really exceeded expectations—definitely a 9/10. This season feels more like a 7/10.
May 26, 2025 at 1:52 AM Just finished the finale. I’ll be honest, I’m not in the mood to type out a giant essay for this episode. I don’t really have much to say that hasn’t already been said anyway other than I appreciate most of the extra s--- added that wasn’t in the game, and overall the episode felt kinda rushed. It’s a decent episode that could’ve been done a lot better and that pretty much sums up the whole season. A big theme this season was not quite getting the pacing right. I pretty much agree with Worm, this is a probably a 7/10 season. This finale has just kinda left me numb the whole time.
May 26, 2025 at 2:30 AM Yeah, the plot for part 2 was all over the place in the game and it’s twice as much in season 2 with millions things happing in matter of minutes in the finale. Everyone is gonna check out for season 3, if they have not all ready with it switching to Abby as the plot and characters are not as interesting and appealing, especially as a TV adaptation. Should have stretched out season 2 more to allow Abby storyline in the season and then ended it on season 3 with less episodes. Having a fourth season is madness but to then rush season 2 like they was on time or budge constraints makes no sense to me. What the show does having go for it, is they are capable making standalone stories with the world as the highlights of the series are always the extra lore and scenes they add. I would entertain spin off or standalone series anyways without the game director and writers involved.
May 26, 2025 at 7:11 AM Season states strong but the Last 2 episodes were trash. Not even a single zombie in the finale lmao. The boat scene looked so fake.
May 26, 2025 at 9:03 AM Spoiler: game spoiler I know the creators love to use the hate for the 2nd game and blame it all on misogynistic and homophobic fans, but what made the 1st game so great was there was always hope through all the terrible s--- the characters had to go through as they tried to get to the fire flies. Joels daughter, Tess, Sam and Henry - those were emotional and drove the plot. Adding in the Frank and Bill story to the show added even more. The 2nd game is just depressing once Joel dies. The characters get darker and it relies mostly on revenge. Abby is really the only character with a positive arc but it's not enough as she's not the main piece of the story. I would rather they wrap up the 2nd game in the 3rd season and give it a proper ending in the 4th. They haven't even started writing the 3rd season, so we could be waiting another 2 years possibly which is not going to help with viewership. If they do give it a proper ending are they going to release another game beforehand as well?
May 26, 2025 at 2:25 PM The showrunners be like “yall better enjoy this horde of infected in episode 2 because they’re barely gonna show up after that.” And if you pay attention a lot of the makeup looked like s---, only a few of the infected actually looked good. But yeah that boat scene looked pretty bad. They pretty much filmed it in a pool
May 26, 2025 at 2:28 PM It’s hard to tell at this point. I want a 3rd game but I’m not getting my hopes up
May 26, 2025 at 2:34 PM I haven’t been paying attention to viewership or reviews of this season because frankly I don’t care that much, but I imagine the viewership dipped after episode 2, went back up on episode 6, and maybe they retained most of those viewers for episode 7. It’s going to be even worse for season 3. I don’t know if there’s a scenario where the viewership doesn’t tank, especially if there’s gonna be a 2 year wait. They should’ve filmed seasons 2 and 3 back to back to minimize the wait time. How many people are going to come back after 2 years to watch an Abby season? And they wanna do a season 4? Will that even get greenlit once season 3 flops? And how are they going to stretch that small, last portion of the game into a whole season? So many questions
