I might be wrong, but it seems that once you select text and click 'Bold' you can't undo it afterward. The text stays bold after posting. So if you accidentally bold something, there's no way to reverse it. Or when you edit a message, if you toggle the bold option on/off it becomes unclear whether the text is actually bold or not.

Bold works fine for me on Safari on iPhone as long as I remember to hit the bold button again when I don’t want it bold anymore. I can’t speak for other platforms though.

Try typing normal text, then select part of that text and click the bold button. It should become bold.

Now, go back and select the same text again and try to remove the bold.

I followed your instructions and it worked, I was able to add the bold and then remove bold through your method. I’m wondering if this depends on the platform you’re on
