Alfredo was dope and so was Freddie’s last album. I expect this will most likely be pretty good

Clipse - h--- Hath No Fury

This is one of those times I'm thankful i managed to get multiple listens in within a reasonable amount of time, at first I liked about half the album and didn't really jive with the production for a solid chunk of the runtime (potentially divisive I know. But Pharrell has always been hit or miss for me even if I recognize the talent).

Good for me that on further listens a lot clicked into place for my ear, songs like Trill and Chinese New Year while still on the weaker side of the record for me ended up not being as detrimental to my experience as it was the first go around. Actually found myself enjoying them.

As for the rapping itself Pusha and Malice do what they both do best, lot of money and coke talk but always written in a consistently clever fashion and that's never changed. I think Malice is actually quite underrated and ends up having highlights of verses on a lot of Clipse tracks, one thing that's not a positive or negative is how much Pushas voice changed to me at least. Obviously he's much younger here but I find myself preferring his newer songs delivery and vocally speaking although it's all high quality.

The sequencing was solid, most of these tracks were similar enough to not make sequencing too jarring which is a positive in this case. The features did their thing as well Slim Thug and Ab-Liva were personal favorites.

Overall a very straightforward, enjoyable albeit a simple rap record that does what it sets out to do in a very entertaining way. Gets in and out quickly and stays within a very consistently quality range with good rapping and solid production!

Favorite Songs: We Got It For Cheap, Wamp Wamp, Ride Around Shining, Dirty Money, Nightmares

    RATING
    7.5/10

Although I really did enjoy this the new album seems like it has the potential to be even more my speed which is exciting!

"OVO 40 hunched over like he's 80" is still one of the hardest lines I've heard in a diss lmao Pusha is such a pure bred hater I love it

Same, his voice got deeper and grittier. Makes him and Malice easier to differentiate and makes them compliment each other more

Instead the forum was mostly just an Eminem circlejerk with the occasional fake beef made out of boredom and lack of fulfillment in life. Although threads like this have been changing that. This site feels different from what it used to be a few years ago

The two new Clipse singles are fire. They lean more toward the sound of Pusha T’s recent solo work which I’ve really come to appreciate over time. Watching one of their recent interview also got me interested in the album.

    Good to see this!

I liked Pusha's s--- the last years but his earlier work never did as much for me (compared to his new stuff I mean). Some artist really do sound better over time.

Giving a couple more listens before a formal review but I will say it's really unfortunate --- wasn't a good person cause he had a lot of potential musically. I feel like him, Ski (hes alive but hasnt really pushed himself), and Juice were an interesting facet of the SoundCloud emo trap era that could've evolved a popular sound that would've been way better for me than the rage s--- that ended up getting big. A lot of these artists got unfairly lumped into the mumble category cause of the time they came up but I found the genre blending and the way they were playing with flows pretty interesting.

Clipse - h--- Hath No Fury

    review

I only got into Pusha's music back when Daytona dropped and the quality of that record was what made me want to check out more of his material in the first place. Admittedly, I'd never really put time aside to check out the rest of his catalogue back then; so, naturally, the next step was listening to Clipse's discography that had been even more acclaimed than his solo work. So it was summer of 2018 when I got into this project, the rest is pretty much history becuase I've been hooked on it since.

What makes this album so amazing to me is the synergy between Pharrell, Malice, and Push. Pharrell Williams is usually pretty hit or miss for me because, despite producing some of my favorite rap songs ever (Good Kid by Kendrick), sometimes his beats tend to sound a bit janky and reminiscent of RZA's Guitar center abomination.
This, though, is most definitely not the case on h--- Hath No Fury, as the music on here sounds as malicious as the rapping does.

We Got It For Cheap is such a fire intro that really hooks you in, the first verse has got to be one of my favorite verses ever. Absolute flames, that flow is cocaine made musical. What's even better is the fact that this album doesn't follow the somewhat typical formula of rap projects where the first songs sets you up and the others knock you the f--- down; the whole tape keeps the momentum going over its 12 songs, 48 minute runtime (which is the perfect album length, IMO).

I think that the songs flow together very well and thus it wouldn't really be too interesting of a read if I wrote about each one separately (I'd probably repeat myself over and over again). That said, some of my personal favorites on here, besides the aforementioned intro, include absolutely every single song besides Trill; this one is kind of lacklustre to me, I never got into it as much.

I agree with the sentiment about the brothers' voices lowkey being indistinguishable at times, which can make this a challenging listen in that regard. Which leads me to also agreeing with what y'all just said about Push and how he got better over the years. Not only is it due to his voice changing, it is also a result of great artistic evolution. He keeps getting better and better and, judging by the singles for the upcoming Clipse albume, Malice is too.

I am really excited for the release of Let God Sort Em Out. Everyone involved sounds like they're in their bag. I fully expected that from Push and Malice but I'm especially glad that it sounds like Pharrell killed it as well. Super happy that we'll have an event for the project here, too. I think it will be very interesting to see how everyone's opinions on the new material compare to their takes on this, some would say, classic record.

This was a great album to pick for the club. Love to see some Clipse representation on here! I'll definitely be bumping their old and new s--- alike this summer. Need to get me a lowrider to cruise in while blasting these crack cocaine classics.

    9/10
