Real ones know Drake's peak was 09-11.

He still had some good/great projects after this, but he never had that same magic about him imo, despite his insane success.



Like when you watch him recording Over My Dead Body (04:40) and freestyling his Resistance verse here (09:10). It's not even the same artist.

He really changed with Views, that was the start of his downfall but I didn’t really feel it until the second half of Scorpion. It’s like as he got more popular with the pop music he lost all motivation and you can tell in the music. He has no passion for what he’s doing anymore and it makes everything so bland. He still drops good songs every now and then but that keeps getting more and more rare with each new album

Imo the real change started with IYRTITL, and I like that project. At the time tho it really felt like a drastic lane switch for him, both musically and persona wise.

Actually it may have started with NWTS (songs like Worst Behaviour, SFTB, and 305 come to mind).. Idk I never really f----- with that 'side' of Drake personally.

But you're right Views was the confirmation that the old Drake was gone. Change isn't bad but unfortunately he hasn't grown musically since then - he's regressed rapidly, with More Life being the outlier (I f--- with that tape).

Of course you get odd songs and feats here and there that brings you back to his golden sound, but they are few and far between. The musical path Drake took has been so disappointing overall.

Maybe it's nostalgia playing a part but nothing has come close to topping his Take Care era. It's his only genuine classic for me.
