    when did he say this?

i’ve always thought this is a really fascinating verse. the lyrics and cadence are still relatively prime, but he slows down his delivery to match the beat but it doesn’t really work here and makes him sound slow or off. plus he’s starting to do that whatever you’d call it where the rhyming words all start to blur together as his delivery is significantly impaired by drugs exhaustion stress etc. it’s an interesting look at the transition between tes and encore. devastating, but interesting

The first time we saw that slowed down flow I think would be My Name with Xzibit.

I like Don't Push Me. The writing and flows are sloppy by his standards up to that point, but the emotional intensity in his delivery makes up for it all. Good stuff.

A while ago, I read somewhere that many of DJ Head’s drums weren’t actually credited, but they only listed Lose Yourself as an example (I knew it sounded like something he did). So we would have to use his sound to know every one he did. Superman seems like one that could be a Head beat.

There’s also no “Guitar” credit on Superman, which is kinda weird considering it’s driven by a little guitar lick the whole way through.

Bass is only credited to keyboards and bass. The guitar sounds exactly like his style though.

of course it is jeff bass. they might have thought it is not necessary while he is already credited as additional producer. it might have something to do with royalties maybe.

I was always impressed by how the strings at the end of Cleaning Out My Closet. Is it possible that the guitars I. superman aren't real guitars but are sounds on a keyboard and Jeff is just playing it all on a keyboard?

Also I was looking at the original Slim Shady LP credits and the credits from the Expanded Release and the credits are so different. Is Mr B one of the Bass Brothers? Did Dr Dre mix the slim shady LP but not want his name on there?

Which strings do you mean? The violin? And nah that guitar on Superman absolutely sounds live. I thinks that’s Jeff’s Fender.

“Mr B” is a dude name Brian Bridgeman that also has a production credit on Beyoncé’s first album in the song “That’s How You Like It”.

Speaking of SSLP, I’ve heard Jeff Bass talk about producing Brian Damage, and how that bit at the beginning is him playing an acoustic guitar that’s been sped up. But somehow Mel-Man has a drum programming credit?

Yeah the violin. It sounds very real.

I just assumed Mr B was a nickname they gave someone. I like the way the album is mixed.

    Dr Dre mixed Rock Bottom?

Dre also mixed the Bass Brothers tracks on MMLP. Is it possible he stepped in and maybe helped out a lot more than we know of?

Why does it say the original version of c-m on Everybody was produced for The Slim Shady EP by DJ Head when it wasn't on the EP and he has no credits at all for the LP version. We know the sample didn't clear due to too much money being asked I just found it interesting because this same info is given for If I Had.. and I don't think there is any difference from the EP and LP versions but they don't mention the Slim Shady EP for Just Don't Give A f--- or 97 Bonnie and Clyde and he was involved with Bonnie And Clyde. We could even mention Rock Bottom again too. Is this the first time and maybe only time Interscope has mentioned the existence of The Slim Shady EP and songs that were intended for it?

And back In February 1999 could you still get the EP? At what point did they stop making those tapes?

I asked the same question about the violin recently, but I think it’s a keyboard preset. I actually heard the same violin sound on another Eminem beat not long ago but I can’t remember what it was now. f---.

Dre did mix a lot of MMLP. Jeff Bass said in an interview his work with Eminem was always creating the track in the studio, and once he’d played all his instrumental parts he was never involved in the song after that. So the Bass Bros were never involved in the mixing process. It would either be Steve King or Dre. Although I thought Steve King mixed some of MMLP, but he doesn’t seem to be credited, so I’m guessing he was just a recording engineer at that point until he started mixing later on for TES/8 Mile era.

But yeah Dre mixed a lot of early Em stuff. I’m sure he mixed Without Me, Marshall Mathers, Drug Ballad, Kim too.

Im not entirely clued up on the whole EP/LP stuff, still have to do some research to get up to track.

I find it funny that Eminem gets the main mixing credit for Stan and The Way I Am too lol. That was definitely given to him by Dre. Stan has an added bass by Mike Elizondo and The Way I Am was produced with Elizondo and Tommy Coster, both part of Dre’s team.

So I reckon Dre actually mixed Stan and The Way I Am, maybe with Eminem by his side coming up with ideas like the pencil sound effect and the whistling sound in the third verse. But Dre just let him take the mixing credit, because there’s no way at that point that Eminem could solely mix a song that was about to be on one of the biggest selling albums of all time. It takes years of experience to learn.

I remembered the violin sound @crazybeats . It was used by Resto for the intro of Renegade. Seems to have the same tremolo as Closet too.

I actually think Renegade is one of his weakest beats from that era, but it still has that classic Em feel to it.

It always surprised me whenever I heard people say they "don't f--- with Em" cos of his "beat selection". And I'm talking about the prime version here btw. Even d-ck riders like Stevie Knight on YT have said that.

It's a valid criticism from 2010-present, but his production in the golden years always sounded great to me. Is it a black/white thing? I'm white and never had an issue with how his music sounded, but a lot of black people say otherwise (content/shock value stuff aside).
