Feb 2, 2026 at 6:42 PM People have claimed this for years, but did it really though? These 2 never even hardly hung out together unless it was on tour or in the studio. Not like they were tied to each other’s hips. Proof was out on the streets, still being a civilian, giving back to the people of Detroit whilst Eminem was hidden away in his mansion, ordering underage escorts and leaving Kim to deal with all the kids. Plus he was in the studio during and after Proofs death for most of 2006, he even wrote Ballin Uncontrollably, bragging about his wealth only 3 weeks after Proof had been laid to rest. I don’t know whether it was Eminem or other people who claim Proofs death was a turning point, but imo it’s a very selfish thing to say if it came from him. He had major problems before, during and after the death of Proof. There’s radio interviews going back to 2004 of him being completely high and hardly making sense, speaking really slowly.

That’s just life. & the nature of the job is s--- talk. Whatever else he may be, Marshall’s been a fixated workaholic since day 1. He avoids a lot of life this way; working like that is an escape. So he generated more product because he worked instead of facing grief head-on? I bet nobody’s ever done that before. Proof’s death gutted him, without question. He was the only one Marshall really connected with and trusted 100%, as well as his only reliable adult relationship.Just because Marshall was a train wreck beforehand doesn’t mean he didn’t go batshit after that too. His gene pool is a cesspit. I’m not sure he’s ever properly grieved anything. He’s certainly no good at loss.
