Mar 29, 2026 at 6:36 PM Wondering if I should go with something fully janky or something slightly different with my next pick
Mar 29, 2026 at 6:41 PM @Ripper Roo im not gonna lie i didnt know it was her, but I recognize vampire from working retail and this album gave me ptsd to stocking shelves
Mar 29, 2026 at 7:14 PM Guts is one of those albums where I think the album cuts are better than the first single or two although I still quite like Vampire for what it is
Mar 29, 2026 at 7:39 PM I just finished my first listen, and I enjoyed it, however, I usually do do a couple listens during the week before reviewing but this was a rough listen for me. I just went through a really rough breakup, and it was the longest girlfriend I’ve ever had (3 years) a few months ago and I am still dealing with that, and a lot of this albums subject matter reminds me of that whole situation a whole lot so this will be a one listen. I’m gonna drop it an 8 because I really enjoyed it, however I didn’t like the most of the more country inspired songs very much. Thank you @Ripper Roo for the recommendation, I think I’ll revisit it again in a few months. Favorites: get him back!, the grudge, teenage dream, stranger Rating: 8/10 @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau
Mar 29, 2026 at 8:16 PM d--- I’m sorry you relate man, but sometimes that makes the music better tho. I can definitely respect your score and like your favorites. get him back! was just stuck in my head today
Mar 29, 2026 at 9:31 PM I was just thinking last night that “The Grudge” is super underrated but I realized it was the 6th (if I counted right) most streamed on the album (not counting deluxe). Very interesting that it was that high up, feel like I never see anyone talk about it
Mar 29, 2026 at 11:09 PM Unrelated but feeling really inspired to learn an instrument. Think I'm gonna buy a beginner electronic drum kit and then set it up to play Rock Band/Guitar Hero "Pro Drums" songs which are accurately charted to be played like you would the real song to see if I can learn that way. Learning limb independence is gonna be a b---- tho
Mar 29, 2026 at 11:20 PM You totally should. Once you get to the point where you can actually play it’s awesome. Being able to make music and have it actually be good is so fulfilling.
Mar 29, 2026 at 11:50 PM Thats f---in awesome man! My classmate in trade school ignored all the boring parts of class and just started learning to make beats rap in the middle of lecture lol. Worst part is he's actually really solid and i keep telling him to actually drop music. Are you trying to apply music theory if you know any of it or are you just going by ear? Always find that process interesting. Hope to hear something you've worked on in the future!
Mar 30, 2026 at 12:49 AM I’ve just been going by ear and doing whatever lol. Honestly the easiest way for me to pick it up at first was to try to recreate already existing instrumentals. And now I just hop in every now and then and goof around when I’m bored. I honestly should focus on doing it more. I may try to apply music theory more in the future but also as I’m sure you can tell I love experimental stuff and non traditional production in rap music so it hasn’t really been something I’ve thought about
