Jan 2, 2015 Can we get this thread back on track? Anyways, my theory about Ye dropping a suped-up version of Graduation is out the window, but I have a new one. What if this new one is like a celebration of everything Ye has accomplished? Like its obvious that he's not going for a completely new sound cuz this has a very 808s vibe. What if his new album started off with like a skit or something, then took us through some awesome soul-sampling tracks (College Dropout) that slowly grew more grandiose and a bit more emotional (Late Registration) reaching an apex at like an EDM influenced pop radio hit (Graduation), taking an abrupt turn into emotional and dark territory (808s, and this song would fit perfectly here) and then picking steam back up with some A1 MBDTF-style stuff, ending with a minimal but still dope Chicago Acid House style track (Yeezus). Oh, and there could be a sprinkling of Jay and GOOD features (WTT and CS)
Jan 2, 2015 Honestly, my favorite thing about the Only One discussion going on is that no ones wasting time with the "this isn't rap" commentary. I feel like there's usually always someone wasting talking about if a song like this rap or not, rather than comment on the song itself
Jan 2, 2015 I know this is not the first time he's used autotune, but it completely ruin the track. It became unlistenable for me the moment I heard that stupid autotune. worst s--- ever invented
Jan 2, 2015 Dude who cares about autotune? There's this stigma against it for really no reason. The song sounds good, i don't care if he's using autotune or playing the f---ing banjo. It's enjoyable to listen to. End of story.
Jan 2, 2015 honestly, this just makes me wish the clearance to use the while my guitar gently weeps sample in hailie's song went through in time even more
Jan 2, 2015 This song would be 100x better without the autotune, I loved how he used it in 808s but it doesnt feel like there's an excuse for it in this song, kanye isnt even that bad a singer i dont understand why he used it here....
Jan 2, 2015 Well this proves you're a stan This song has nothing to do with Marshall and yet when you listen to it all you can think about is his unrelated song from 13 years ago Grow up
Jan 2, 2015 heard this on the radio today, rare for Australian radios to play good music. I really enjoy this track, better than any other s--- that gets played at least.
Jan 2, 2015 i call myself a stan the same way certain other groups of people use other certain words the term means everything to you and nothing to me because i know eminem is the most talented and best selling rapper of all time and rick rubin and countless other people agree i was only replying to someone who happened to bring up hailie's song you a---. and unrelated? topkek look, if kanye wants to be a faggoty little rapsinger or some s--- with kim as his yoko (but unfortunately not suffering the same fate as john) that's fine but you need to be good at both of those things, and decent at them without an entire f---ing staff, and ye's just not
Jan 2, 2015 i wish there was a story behind the only one production process if kanye recorded a verse and sent it to paul who chopped n skrewed it and let his beat ride out for two minutes paul is like some sort of glorious amalgamation of 1999 slim shady and 2010 dj khaled but if it was ye or someone at roc's decision to use these vfx, then i honestly can't imagine what the f--- is going through their heads
Jan 2, 2015 You serious? Obviously he's not a pro, but if you listen to something like runaway you can clearly hear decent singing, he hits/holds the notes and shows emotion, i cant see the problem...
