Jan 3, 2015 I have to go with Jay Rock. Everytime there is a discussion about TDE's best works, I almost never hear any of Jay Rock's s--- get mentioned. I can understand nobody talking about Follow Me Home, it was good, but it was nothing special. What about Black Friday though? It was a good mixtape. It had the 90's vibe of talking about street life while still having the flow of modern rap. Not to mention that No Joke and Diary of a Broke n----- are instant classics. What are your thoughts?
Jan 3, 2015 I think jay rock is the s--- and very underated. I think he reserves the second best in TDE right under the black lip pastor
Jan 3, 2015 how you gon make this thread when I just made a thread like this like an hour ago But if we're saying "underrated", that throws Kendrick out the window and Schoolboy blew up off his worst project so not him either. Isaiah been getting a lot of attention from a mix tape so I wouldn't say him either, so that leaves Soulo, Jay Rock and SZA. Tbh Jay Rock has always been one of those Talib Kweli-level dudes where he doesn't get much mainstream attention but n----s in the know respect him, plus his singles have been garnering attention AND he was featured on GTA V, the most popular f---ing game in existence, so I wouldn't count him either. Soul came through with a classic in the form of Control System but dropped the f---ing ball with These Days, so even though he is underrated its kinda his fault. So, to answer your question as best I can, SZA.
Jan 3, 2015 @Skippy There is a clear difference between "Best TDE Member" and "Most Underrated TDE Member". Just saying.
Jan 3, 2015 Tbh I think the reason TDE is so dope is because in just about every argument you can make a case for any member of TDE being the best. They're all potential leaders of the new school (cept Jay cuz he's too old and Kendrick cuz he already is a leader) in their own way and they all bring something unique to the table and I've never really seen that in a label before.
Jan 3, 2015 I'll reserve judgement til after I hear them fully, but really good=/=classic my dude. Only bona fide rap classics I've heard this decade are MBDTF and GKMC. Edit: forgot Because The Internet smh
Jan 3, 2015 Jay Rock easily but Soulo, Zay Rashad, SZA have sooooooo much talent that is not talked about enough
Jan 3, 2015 Probably their in-house producers that are so underrated that I cannot even remember their names off the top of my head. However they've done some cool stuff.
Jan 3, 2015 Ali and 40 if I'm remembering correctly Also I wanna say Sounnwave or something like that?
Jan 3, 2015 I agree on Soulo, Rashad, and SZA having so much talent and not being talked about enough.
Jan 3, 2015 willie b soundwave tae beast ali mixes as well idk if thats all of them but for the most part its the actual artist's talent are what makes them great they are a complete squad
