All signs pointing to they did some type of deflating of the balls

My Super Bowl pick: 33-27 Seattle. I'm rooting for New England though.

What signs? All we have is the initial report... Why would they deflate the balls vs an opponent that they've absolutely demolished in the past? Recent past at that. It doesn't make any sense.

I like Brady and don't mind the Pats but can't help but wonder if they've been caught cheating twice (well at least once, maybe twice with this), how many other things have they done that they got away with? Hard to believe those are the only times.

Of course it would have played no role in the outcome yesterday and I don't even see how this would really matter even if it was a close game, but rules are rules and every team's gotta follow them. Surprised to hear the Pats in this kind of talk again tbh, thought it was over with after last time.

Still hope they murder the Seahawks though.

Well obviously if it's found they didn't do anything, then my points will be erased and there will be nothing to talk about, and I did mention it wasn't a sure thing this time.

Either way I heard it's only a $25,000 fine if it's found they're guilty, so I doubt the Pats will even care.

It'd be a non-story if it was any other team but cuz of what the Pats did before, it's getting more attention than it should.

Anybody believing this Deflate Gate story is an utter r----- in regards to football, holy f---.

    - Refs check the footballs before EVERY SNAP. Has anyone felt a deflated football? It's pretty d--- obvious. All the refs would do is ask for a new ball (which they did in the game)
    - The source of this story is coming from an Indianapolis reporter lmao.

    Oh yeah? SpyGate?

The only reason Pats got into trouble was because of WHERE they filmed the defensive signals. Almost every team in the NFL was filming defensive signals prior to 2007 (multiple coaches came out and DEFENDED Belichick), but they were allowed to do it from a certain location. The league sent out a memo in 2007 telling teams that they were no longer allowed to do it. The Pats ignored the memo, did it in the first game of 2007, and got penalized.

Do your research of each story before discrediting one of the greatest organizations in NFL history.

"The inflation (or lack thereof) of footballs is checked before each game, and the balls are periodically tested during each game."

But yeah, Pats cheated again lmao. It's like the go-to thing for losing to them.

Bunch of crybabies. There's no conspiracy. The Pats are just better than your teams. Accept it.

Fitz pissed lol, you're reaching though man, I haven't heard anyone other than obvious trolls like Trent say it's a big deal.

Most of us don't care enough to research a story like this tbh, it's only a story cuz there's nothing else to talk about from the Pats game yesterday and cuz of spygate. It'll be forgotten in a few days most likely.

*edit* You actually made spygate sound worse by trying to defend it though, you basically said they broke the rule after it was made and filmed from the wrong location, so 2 things wrong.

What do you mean it was because of where they filmed them? I didn't know any of this but I'm confused, if the league sent out a memo in 2007 saying they couldn't do it at all anymore, then they didn't get in trouble because of where they were doing it, they got in trouble because they were doing it in general lol.

But yea the deflated football thing is r-----ed based on pretty basic common sense.

How am I reaching? Here's some homework on SpyGate. (From Bill Cowher, Jimmy Johnson and Eric Mangini)

Read the stories I provided in my last post.

There's tons of stories about what NFL coaches have done over the years to steal defensive signals. Goodell didn't like teams filming from certain spots in the stadium, and he sent out the memo, in I believe the summer of 07?

Eric Mangini has gone on record, check my last post, as to call it overblown and he regrets doing it. He just didn't want the Pats filming in the Jets home.

Jimmy Johnson said he learned how to tape signals from a Kansas City assistant.

    I stand corrected @M.I.C.

The memo was actually sent in September 2006.

Here's a direct quote from Jimmy Johnson:

After footage from the actual tape was aired on Fox NFL Sunday on September 16, former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson claimed, "This is exactly how I was told to do it 18 years ago by a Kansas City Chiefs scout. I tried it, but I didn't think it helped us." Johnson also said, "Bill Belichick was wrong because he videotaped signals after a memo was sent out to all of the teams saying not to do it. But what irritates me is hearing some reactions from players and coaches. These players don't know what their coaches are doing. And some of the coaches have selective amnesia because I know for a fact there were various teams doing this. That's why the memo was sent to everybody. That doesn't make [Belichick] right, but a lot of teams are doing this."[25]

Bet you thought that "deflate yourself" line was good.

Pats hater/Redskins fan? Changed my mind that is actually the worst gig going.

Keep fighting the good fight tho, one day you'll get there.

Look, if you don't do the research of the stories, and want to hang on to "Cheatriots" then that's cool.

But, just know, anyone using SpyGate or this deflation story to taint the Patriots' successes over the last 15 years, has NO idea what they're talking about.

I think the Pats were arrogant during SpyGate, a new rule was made to stop the practice of video taping signals, and the Pats ignored it. They got penalized for it. It was a practice that most teams were doing. Some video taped, some had assistant coaches stealing signals... Point is, every team tries to steal signals. Why do you think coaches cover their mouths with their clipboards or sheets when calling plays?

When I played football, my defensive coordinator would call signals, and he'd have decoy signals. Every call was cryptic. This was pre Spy Gate too.

This deflating story is so dumb though. If you actually believe this actually worked to help the Patriots, you have NEVER played football.

Even if the Pats deflated footballs, they'd be removed from the game (which they WERE), because the refs have to check the ball prior to the snap.
