Feb 1, 2015 from what i understand the label gets most of the money from albums. i could be wrong but i remember hearing artists make the majority of their money touring. i also agree with Sepiroth i've read even $1-$2 per album. you gotta think nowadays you can pick up an album for around $10-$12 which you have to take into account the store has already marked up quite a bit so obviously the label has sold it far less than that. you also have to figure in taxes and everything else. unless you tour it's not nearly as profitable.
