Feb 22, 2015 I guess its subjective on what style of kanye you prefer. CD/LR/graduation kanye or 808s/MBDTF/yeezus kanye. None of his albums are bad. For me personally I prefer his earlier work. But I don't think he is better or worse. Hes remained consistant tbh
Feb 22, 2015 CD, LR & Graduation> 808s, MBDTF & Yeezus but not by much. The 1st 3 albums have plenty of timeless songs that he hasn't topped, such as Can't Tell me Nothing, Jesus Walks, All Falls Down, Diamonds From Sierra Leone & Hey Mama. Now with that said, 808s & beyond has better PRODUCTION and have some more creativity, but they weren't executed as good overall. Love Lockdown, Say You Will, Devil In A New Dress, Runaway, Blood On The Leaves & Bound 2 is timeless. But Yeezus & 808s as a whole project don't top the first 3 (Graduation & Yeezus would get even scores out of me) & MBDTF still doesn't compare to Late Registration to me as a whole project.
Feb 23, 2015 Much worse, but we're in the Pitchfork trolling generation. If it's different, it'll be defended. Even if it isn't very good. We probably won't get anything as good as MBDTF for a very long time. It's going to take him being driven into near obscurity or something.
Feb 23, 2015 No it's possible. All Your Fault, though a Big Sean song & Only One are examples. Wolves could be GOAT but I need a final CDQ version to say that. All Day has potential too
Feb 23, 2015 The first 3 albums vs the last 3 albums? So thats CD, LR, and Graduation vs 808s, MBDTF, and Yeezus. Both have albums I slept on (Graduation and 808s) but I'll have to go with the last 3 by a little edge. Both sides are pretty equal though.
Feb 23, 2015 I disagree with this comment. Firstly, Good is a subjective term. Secondly, I find things that are different to be inherintly better simply because it's not stagnant. If you prefer more traditional music that's fine, but it's ignorant to dismiss an entire generation of opinions because they think differently than you
Feb 23, 2015 Welcome Kanye's music didn't necessarily become better or worse but totally different and way more difficult to appreciate.
Feb 23, 2015 I just prefer good music. Good being subjective as you said. I'm all for new concepts and ideas. However I'm not for celebrating them for being terribly executed. Most of Ye's "Left' ideas have been poorly executed. 808's? The man butchered an entire album with his horrific vocals. Yeezus? He went for a pseudo industrial sound, but didn't really capture it, along with still using his own horrible vocals and incoherent rambling trumped up to be profound. I actually don't think Ye has done too-too much by way of basic traditional music. He's been pushing the boundaries for quite some time, and Dark Fantasy was his grand achievement imo. Watch The Throne was pretty good in its own regard, and that had full blown dubstep on it. Different for the sake of different is a new age hipster idealism that has the shelf life of a snowball in July.
Feb 23, 2015 But too me both those albums sound amazing. It's all subjective. And bruh, rapping over dubstep is NOT progressive And I'm not a hipster, I like Kanye West for Christ's sakes. I just happen to like innovative s---.
