This is my first post, ive been lurking these forums for months so I know how vicious some of you are lol. If this is in the wrong section I apologize. I think TPAB is a really good album after 4 or so listens but it doesnt have a spark or excitement GKMC had during the first few listens. Thats besides the point, I dont think this album is better than Cole's FHD, Cole combined lyricism, story telling and beat selection to near perfection. For example, a tale of 2 citiez. I know many of you disagree and I want to know why you would choose TPAB over FHD. Btw, "U" is a GOAT track

The two can't even compare to each other. Apples and oranges.

They're both rap albums by lyrical "conscious" rappers containing racial thought provoking content released in the last 3 months.

So it's more like comparing red apples to green apples

Too early right now, I would rather let the album sink in for a few weeks/months. But if I had to. I would honestly say GKMC>FHD>TPAB
I feel like FHD is J.Coles GKMC in a way. I am really feeling TPAB though. Just need more time to get to love it.

Except 95% of Coles album is not even about race while the majority of TPAB is. Both socially conscious albums but definitely apples and oranges.

It's a fair and inevitable comparasion. I think TPAB pushes more boundaries, and is more risk taking in the content it aims to tackle. At the same time it has Kendrick being very true to himself with his storytelling, writing & concepts.

FHD is perhaps the safer album and touches on content which is more relatable and delivered in more ear friendly manner. However it is still excellently crafted together; it tells a story without skits, doesn't ever drag and still has a variety of tracks. The fact Cole did this near single handedly (80% own production, no features) is incredible.

So it comes down to what you prefer in the end. I would take FHD over TPAB as for me that album is everyday life music.
