Tore my ACL and had reconstructive surgery in high school

Never broke a bone but when I was real young I was riding on someones pegs and was kicking the spokes of the tire like a moron and my ankle got caught. Almost broke it but luckily just severe sprain.

Tore my ACL 3 weeks into my 1st semester at college, really hated how bad the timing was since I felt like life was going great until this. I did manage to finish the semester before going home and getting surgery and doing rehab, etc. I tore it playing basketball going for a rebound, I made an aggressive play and sprinted in for the board in front of a guy on the other team, his knee kind of bumped into mine from behind (I think, not even positive) and then I fell to the floor. I did get the rebound though lol. I actually felt fine at the time but heard a pop and when I tried to put pressure on it standing up, I collapsed and knew I was f-----.

In middle school I broke my wrist filming some video for video production class, basically just landed poorly on it.

Fractured My talus bone in my ankle sneaking into a club back in 2010, the bouncer wouln't let us in so me and my mate jumped climbed up around the side of the club and on the the roof and then jumped down into the smoking area, i landed very badly on my right foot and within seconds it was sweling out like a f---ing orange and had to carried out the club by my mates and into an ambo and straight on the happy gas.

Its still half shagged now, is still noticeably swollen all the time and i cant run properly. Its arthric and also has some other issue where theres a lack of blood or oxygen going down to my foot.

Basically kids dont get drunk and pop aggots and climb rooves,

4 years ago i got dropped off in my driveway loaded, got out of the car slipped on ice under my buddies car, he reverses over my right leg and i yell out and punch the s--- out of the side of his car. Then he panics, hits the gas and runs over my leg again. For some reason i thought i was fine, my buddies helped me up and i told them to let me stand. Bad choice as my tibia just collapsed and the bone comes out of my skin, about 3-4 inches about my ankle.

Other then that nothing serious, couple bad sprains and some stitches.

- Swung on w/ laptop charging cord in the middle of chem soph yr of HS & got hit by connected power supply block/box on the cord. Cut open my eyebrow pretty nicely & got kleenex to stop bleeding. s--- kept bleeding so had to go to nurse & ended up getting a couple stitches.

- Broken my shin in baseball @ 14.

- Broke collarbone & ankle sr. yr of HS football.

- Not me, but when I was like 10, my buddies & I were playing airsoft in the woods near my friend's house. I was running with this kid & I was behind him and he trips on something and falls on a rock and completely breaks his right arm in half. His forearm from his hand to the middle of his forearm is titled up at a 45 degree angle and it's just f---ing dangling. He didn't even realize at first and then he must've went into shock b/c that MF started screaming like a banshee lol

- One more. I was f---ing around for whatever reason in a restaurant parking lot after a baseball game and tripped by this ramp with the railings leading to the side door of restaurant and stubbed my toe so f---ing bad on this railing that I pushed my big toe's nail back into my toe about 1/4 inch, broke/tore cartilage, & broke my toe by having the bone push back into my foot bones. My toe hurt for about 5 years after that I swear lol.

- Cracked growth plate in my thumb when a friend hit it with an airball while we were shooting around
- Stitches between the eyes when I got rocked in a parking lot by a kid with a key between his fingers (didn't go down)
- Stepped on a hot stove top, a rusty nail, and a lit sparkler at different times as a kid
- Scars from working the fryer at my uncle's restaurant
- Various scars from fighting with my cousin as a kid
- Emotional scar tissue from these hoes

I had a double ear infection, strep throat, was severely dehydrated, and had a low white cell count at one point when I was around 10. Puked and started getting a nosebleed at the same time like a House episode I got rushed to the ER. Closest I've been to dying.

Fell 3 stories this past weekend. Landed on cement. How I didn't die or break anything is beyond me. Lucky to be alive right now

So yeah, this is similar to @Raziel's "closest you've come to dying thread" but I thought it was different enough to warrant a new thread.


For me, it'd probably be when I was free running and, instead of clearing a wall I clipped it with both of my feet, causing me to tumble maybe 3m onto concrete whilst gaining a bunch of scrapes on the sandstone wall along the way. I landed pretty terribly and cracked my tailbone and dislocated my shoulder as well as getting covered all over in cuts ans scrapes. It s----d.

So what are the worst injuries you've ever had, and how did you get them?

broke my toe by running from the shower to my room naked because i forgot my towel.
Had to have 2 metal pins in the bone for a few months
Snapped the tendon in my thumb in a play fight

Playing tag in 3rd grade, quickly turning around and running after tagging someone, and slicing my forehead open on a blunt rusty hook that went into the skin and I jerked out of reaction and it tore the hole even wider

Then they didn't call an ambulance and instead had my mom drive all the way from downtown, pick me up, then take me back downtown, so I sat concussed with a paper towel to my bleeding forehead for a solid hour or two, and by the time we got to er I remember as they put me under I said something very racist to the Asian surgeon I forget what but I remember not realizing it was racist 'til I said it and feeling very embarrassed

I had a similar thing (although nowhere near as bad) where I ran into a fence and a piece of wire stuck into my face just below my right eye. I would've gone blind

Once I broke my leg far beneath the Rotunda Room past the fifth arc attempting to prepare to descend the Maelstrom in search of Agartha. The mantle was angry that night if it ever was my friends and it must've been God himself who put that stalagmite that tripped us up there because we brought the best lighting available. I couldn't believe how quickly they left me when the other guys bolted but after all they were the ones who saw the Dero down the next tunnel while I was rendered helpless. I'd lost count of the hours and track of the hunger by the time a few Avalonians who happened to be lurking on the outskirts of the cave system conducting research experiments were able to gather me and amazingly my irreplaceable notes and supplies and sustain me until I woke up in the infirmary back in town the next morning.
