Tomorrow's the big day. Got my pre order in the other day and was pleasantly surprised to see there was no season pass. Free DLC ftw.

FACK, forgot this comes tomorrow. Right when I stopped being a lame-o and playing MK online haha. I'll have to get into this game for sure. Looks cool as s---. Might wait for the weekend so I can binge play it if I get hooked.

I remember I bought skyrim with no idea about it. Watched a review thought it looked amazing, bought it and d--- binge played the s--- out of it the first week. Like I was studious in University so I'd come home and study for a bit then it was Skyrim for the night. That game was the first to hook me in in a long time.

We'll see if Witcher 3 can do it.

EDIT: Just checked my status. Game shipped on Friday, got in my city on Sunday. Holy crap fastest shipping ever. Where was this when MK released? Lol MK shipped out on a Sunday and got here by Thursday.

So I only played about an hour last night. But the controls/movement are terrible honestly. The most trivial s--- is hard like walking through a d--- doorway. Dodging and jump rolling during combat throws the camera around to the point where you can't see your enemy unless you manual move the camera now. The story so far hasn't been bad but another thing that bothers me about RPGs with a lot of voice acting is the voice acting and the audio of it needs to be good. The voice acting has no environmental audio connected to it. So say Gerald is down the hill and like 30 feet away outside, his voice will still sound like it's right next to you. The reverb on his voice will not sound like he is outside either. This is small stuff but little things like that will break my immersion and not want to go through dialogue. And the s-----y movement makes everything a lot more annoying.

I'll put some more time into it to see if I can get used to it but so far I'm a bit disappointed and annoyed that I got digital that I can't resell or refund because I was going to get physical but the digital released at 7PM EST. Then of course I see that Gamestop decided to start f---ing selling it at 7...

I played more today and it was better. I probably got 2 maybe 3 more hours in and the story is beginning to flesh out and become more interesting. Control wise I lowered the sensitivity to about 80 and it's better, could even go lower but that's preference. You do get used to the movement and run sensitivity (really no weight to the character in movement, few transitions from slow walk to full run) but you really shouldn't have to. It's kind of unfortunate and if you're used to/prefer tight controls you'll be disappointed in that regard.

The combat has gotten a bit easier (I'm on 2nd highest difficulty) and I guess I'm beginning to learn to 'work' with the camera's abrupt movements. It's still annoying but the rest of the combat is interesting and challenging enough to look past it. Definitely a combat system you have to be careful with because you will die and then have to face a minute and a half loading screen. Each monster has it's weaknesses and once you fight a monster its information will show up in the Bestiary where you can study and read up on the monsters before combat with them. Higher difficulty levels than which I am at will definitely require that.

With all that and occasional pop-ins (that aren't terribly distracting) and some framerate hiccups the game is overall good. The landscapes and the atmosphere of the game is its kicker and its awesome. It really is unique landscape than any other I've played in a video game. Towns big and small feel solely hand done and not copy & pasted buildings. The story is becoming better and characters are beginning to develop their personalities. I like the lack of black and white choices and meddling in the grey; picking the lesser of two evils most of the time instead of the right choice. It's refreshing but makes the game grounded in a reality we know... s--- sucks.

Sorry for the long post, but I feel some reviews I read didn't really touch on things that kind of fundamentally hinder the game and experience like controls and felt you should know some parts of the game that a more cynical gamer wouldn't like. My opinion maybe wait, if you can, until CDPR releases a couple patches improving a few of these issues. If you can't wait, it's still a good game and massive and I think will end up being worth the buy.

    Anyone else playing this?

Personally, I'm satisfied.. I mean I'm barely about to be level 2 as I've just been running around doing random quests and stuff but I find this very nice.

The combat takes some getting used to..but not really if you are patient. Definitely not a button masher. (I see why people compare it to Dark Souls)

I agree with the movement issues @Medici posted about but once you get used to it, it becomes easy to manage and I forgot I ever had issues.

Story/lore and characters with nice voice acting is what is keeping me immersed. Top notch imo.

I really like the story so far.

So I know half this thread is me talking to myself but I gotta keep this thread alive cause you guys really should get this game. :emoji_thumbsup::emoji_thumbsup:

Best Open World RPG I've played since.. Skyrim or Dragon's Dogma I guess.

I mean, I split a guy in half horizontally last night…. like.. his legs were over there by that tree, and his upper body was… over there by that river.

    I was like :lololll:

One dude, I chopped his head off and it went rolling down the hill…
Another, spilt him in half vertically… like, f---.

If anything it would play smoother on Windows 10? Unless you mean something else.

I would imagine as along as it's cracked, it would play fine. Not sure if it even has a key or not. I'm on ps4.

Yea, I saw a cracked version on Kickass last night.. I was debating on it. Do I need to play the others to get the knowledge of the story/character ?

    Yea get that one. :emoji_thumbsup:

This is my first Witcher game and I'm not lost at all, other than not having some background info on a few characters..

The game does a nice job of setting up the world and who/what the main character is and his job, those around him, etc.

I was worried about that before getting the game but it's definitely made to stand alone for newcomers. :jo:
