A) I thought u meant promotion as in something advertising him to the general public, like Kanye with his shoes and half hour commercials

B- what exactly is so bad about having a good agent that's trying to get his name out there, other than the fact that you don't like the artist being put out?

Also, I feel like you claims of Travis Scott being purely derivative are off base because other than QP2 and Bad Mood s--- On You, he has nearly no songs where he straight up sounds like someone else. It's really just those two songs and then a lot of his pre fame s--- was awful. I've said this before, if you truly think Meadow Creek or Drive or The Prayer or Drugs are clear knockoffs than you're just being biased to fit an agenda of Travis hate that seems to be trendy right now, like that shameless biased click bait thread someone linked to earlier

i do also mean that

nothing. but i was responding to the claim someone made (i don't think you, but maybe?) that travis was coming by his blog buzz organically. it's being browbeaten into the complex network etc by very powerful people behind the scenes.

there is no travis scott song (at least not on any of his projects, i may not be caught up on all his loosies) that is the product of someone with original thoughts or the ability to execute them.

people in our generation seem to be very quick to accuse others of having sinister, ulterior motives. it's a bad habit, because it's true such a small percentage of the time. my feelings about travis scott aren't serving some end goal. i've twice been offered significant amounts of money (well, one significant, the other moderate) to write about him, and twice i've turned down the opportunity. if i was tailoring my opinions to fit my needs, i'd be singing his praises.

@WPG all I'm going to say is that you basically just said Travis has 0 songs that require imagination... That's very silly to me. I know some people overexaggerate his abilities but he's a legitimately good artist, Owl Pharaoh is full of creativity, DBR is less creative but is a good dabble in various aspects of the ATL scene similar to Nasty Dealer, and I truly believe Rodeo itself will be full of his unique gems like Drugs You Should Try that are truly different from anything I've heard today in rap

I don't mean bias as in you're sitting here, twirling your mustache, bashing on Travis for some sort of gain; I'm saying your comments on him are off base and overly negative. Imo it seems like you just legitimately dislike his music, which Is fine, but the comments about him being purely derivative are laughable tbh

in any other context, sure. but saying that you don't find travis scott derivative is just, like, go listen to the most popular records from the last eight years and tell me he has a single original bone in his body. i'm not looking down my nose at you for not knowing some obscure, hyper-regional artist. travis is biting people who have been widely covered.
