May 27, 2015 No Apologies belongs in the 1999-03 era, since those first two verses came from either 2002 or 2003. Third verse is so trash lol. I know people hate on his stuff today, but seriously, his stuff today s----s on 04-06... I'd much rather listen to some average s--- like Brainless/Rhyme Or Reason/Love Game than f---ing Fack/My Ballz/My First Single/Rain Man/etc. Thing is, he sounds like a rapper again... Encore he sounded like a f---ing pre-schooler, Relapse he sounded like a weirdo... The ONLY album I've reconsidered is Relapse. I will NEVER reconsider Encore lol. Encore is his worst album, possibly worst album I've ever heard. I don't care about the accent on Relapse, the shouting, poppish sounds and corny lines on Recovery, or the bland content/stop and go flow on MMLP2... Encore is pure trash. It's an embarrassment to hip hop and music in general. No amount of Spend Some Time, Like Toy Soldiers or Never Enough will ever save that trash of an album. MMLP2, Recovery and Relapse are SO much better than Encore... And that's saying a lot, since those albums are below average to average. The only era of Eminem's that should be missed is 99-03 though. Seriously, go listen to Rain Man's second verse again, Just Lose It or Big Weenie... It makes Legacy and Survival look like classics....
May 27, 2015 eminem still outselling and outclassing the entire rap game. MMLP2 first week outsold IYRTITL by over 300,000 which is roughly the same amount as TPAB's first week sales . TES is still charting and it was released in f---ing 2002. At this point, white privilege isn't to blame, otherwise white artists would clearly be selling more than any other race in hip-hop which is false. The only thing to blame is his actual talent; he has managed to hold the public's attention for nearly two decades now (20 years). Its like fame is Eminem's pet, he chooses whether or not to feed it whereas other rappers gamble with each release. but of course, f--- sales I think we should be looking at Eminem not as "Old Em" vs. "Modern Em" but as a culmination of it all. Eminem is a hip-hop monolith period, regardless of the era. This n-----, right now in 2015, could sell out every single f---ing stadium in the United States, Japan, UK, etc. etc. etc. His pull and influence on the genre and market is immense. And still many forum n----s like to s--- on him, forgetting to ask the fundamental question: "How in the f--- is Eminem still a topic of discussion?". "How the f--- is he still relevant?". Kendrick's f---ing good. J. Cole is dope. Chance is aight. ASAP is cool. Mac Miller is tight. Drake's got his moments. This new generation of rappers are all very good but none of them are competing on Eminem's level. They can't even reach his level if they tried and its because Eminem ain't competing with them. I think he's competing with himself, behind closed doors. You don't think someone who spends everyday in the studio, writing constantly, hasn't written and recorded 1,000 stans, 1,000 white americas, 1,000 Lose Yourself's, 1,000 SFTM, 1,000 (insert favorite eminem song)? He's in a league of his own, both "modern" and "prime" eminem. In terms which one I like the best, I prefer Eminem as a whole, with his entire catalog available for my listening. I can play his verse on "Bring Our Boys" then skip to "Music Box" then play "I'm Back" and its all Eminem.
May 27, 2015 No it's not, most of the Eminem's fans didn't like it and most of the Recovery's fans didn't know Eminem before 2010
May 27, 2015 Whoa whoa whoa. Show me a verse from that era as bad as the final verse on Legacy or the second verse of Survival. I mean you've got to put it into context, too. He's f---ing around on those songs. Those are horrible songs but he's clearly joking around. Legacy and Survival are both serious motivational songs and he's talking about "wiping his butt while stabbing himself in the gut" as well as "pigs, sausages and saucers flying out of his a---". Give me any verse from Rain Man or Big Weenie ALL DAY over the s--- from MMLP2.
May 27, 2015 don't you consider Beautiful Pain a classic though Solo? unless i have you mixed up with someone else
May 27, 2015 I agree with you for the most part but i disagree with your thoughts on MMLP2 "Looking back at how great i used to be" can you give some examples ? The only example thing i can of is Rhyme or Reason but thats really it btw didnt you leave the forum ?
May 27, 2015 h--- nah, I was drinkin this weekend and me and my buddy decided to light up a blunt and TES came on. We were so f---ing amazed at how good he used to be. Even after that album played and Encore came on we actually laughed at some of those songs. Cant remember the last time I laughed out loud to a Eminem track. For some reason I still have hope he can do some classic s--- again.
May 27, 2015 Come on now, You know that's not even a comparison to his older stuff as far as the imagery & humor goes.
May 28, 2015 I get what you're saying, but I can't go there lol. A song like Survival SOUNDS better than a song like Big Weenie. I legit cannot get through Big Weenie, EVER. It's the most embarrassing attempt I've ever heard at a rap song. Oh wait, I lied, the other songs I mentioned are too... I don't care if he was "kidding around"... It doesn't make the songs any less embarrassing. Survival is an awful song, I'd probably rate it the same as Big Weenie (0/10) but it's a serious attempt. I can respect it from an attempt standpoint, much like I can respect most of Relapse in comparison to Encore. As bad as Legacy's "pigs fly out my a---" line is... he still had some bright spots in the song... Unlike the songs I mentioned. I know Legacy and Survival are MAJOR disappointments, but they are nowhere near the level of s--- that I mentioned. Thing is, I'm not defending Legacy and Survival, cuz they're awful. I'm just saying that those middle songs on Encore, Fack, My Ballz are WAY worse.
May 28, 2015 People taking this s--- too serious lmfao. Eminem is still one of the biggest names in hip hop and has been for the last 15 years. Shut the f--- up and enjoy his music while we still have it and stop comparing.
May 28, 2015 'Peep Show' & 'Who Want It and Pistol Poppin' as well came out in 2007/2008 I am whatever you say I am
