Go back and relisten to SSLP, MMLP, TES, and the material on 8 Mile, as well his features from 2003, the freestyles from 1999 and '98, and compare that to other rappers, you will come to the inevitable conclusion that this Eminem was one of the greatest artist, rappers, and writers of all time.

This. 1999-2003 Eminem is the greatest five year run of all-time. No question, no debate. The rest of his career hurts his case but 1999-03 Em is the greatest rapper of all-time.

better album from 1999: things fall apart
better album from 2000: supreme clientele
better album from 2002: the fix/lost tapes (tie)
lose yourself is very technically impressive, but that doesn't give him merit

The only reason this thread exists was to purposely exclude Eminem and then watch everybody freak out...

not everything is about eminem. he had a reasonably good run. no classic albums. horribly overrated but nostalgic white kids on message boards. maybe i just wanted to have an actual discussion about the best periods in rappers careers. listen to more music.

So because I think Eminem had a great run that makes you think you can pin down my listening patterns. Ghostface is my favorite rapper, Atmosphere's run from Lucy Ford/Sad Clown Bad Dub II to YCIHMFWH should also be in the discussion. Stop with your pretentious bs of "you need to listen to more music." That's a lazy and blind accusation.

Not really 5 years but A Tribe Called Quest had a very great 3 album run from their debut till Midnight Marauders...I really like Common's work pre-Electric Circus but I wouldn't rank it up with the names already mentioned.

Would definitely put ATCQ's run from PITAPOR to TLET to MM. It was a golden run.
