Jun 24, 2015 I don't think he f---s with Kendrick like that, he's probably just a fan of the album, not the artist. He doesn't like gkmc at all but he said tpab was a thing of beauty because hip hop music started with jazz and all that s---. He said Kendrick was raised right
Jun 24, 2015 That's stupid in any scenario. Not to mention GKMC is better I think I already said that this thread f---ing r-----ed logic
Jun 24, 2015 TPAB was a mainstream L and a musical W. I've bumped King Kunta and Alright around my friends and they dug it. It just depends. But as he said a thousand times, this was not going to be a b-----r album, this was going to be something later on appreciated. Because the thing is, bangers come and go. But projects like these don't come around very often and when they're done to this degree, its refreshing, unique and beloved. I understand if you don't like it, but you need to respect it. Alot, and I mean ALOT of people love it, and its going to get nominated.
Jun 24, 2015 Tpab was just for another audience but it really is much better than gkmc. No question here. A lot of people who hate on gkmc love this one and vice versa. 2 different audiences... but it doesn't mean we can't determine with ease which one is better... and tpab is and will always be considered as the much better album for legitimate reasons.
Jun 24, 2015 Very well said. I think critics got it right gkmc: 91/100 TPAB: 96/100 scores are pretty even but i'd say tpab is twice as good
Jun 24, 2015 Definitely. You saw that new list? (rp magazine? can't remember...), they had TPAB at #1, s80 at #2 and gkmc at #3 S80 & gkmc are equally as great IMO but yup, tpab is on all another level when you take everything into consideration
Jun 24, 2015 Twice as good though? I wouldn't go that far but as far as quality goes, there's no denying that gkmc is not touching tpab.
Jun 24, 2015 Nop... tpab s----s on it from a pure objective standpoint we're not talking about personal enjoyment here.
Jun 24, 2015 @Besky we can agree on that, at least from a professional standpoint. I like both though, I bump both albums but I do agree that tpab is without a doubt a superior album
Jun 24, 2015 Considering the fact that TPAB deserves its metacritic score (96/100), It would be fair for the magazines to revisit GKMC and give it a 85-87 TPAB: 96 GKMC: 85 S80: 85
Jun 24, 2015 That's how I've felt about Kanye since MBDTF. I feel this will hurt Kendirck long term because people will compare the album isn't as "good" as TPAB, they'll servely underrate it until years later when looking back and say "hey you know what blah blah was better than I thought it was" (Similiar to Illmatic/ It was written). Personally the album isn't for me so I can't really give it a fair rating. I do imagine this will hurt Kendrick commercially though unless he drops/is involved in some big hits to win back the casual fan base before the next album. He may be bigger than most rappers these days, but he isn't Jay or Eminem big who can move units on name alone. He may win/built a loyal core fan base if he keeps going down the road he is not, but he won't be as big as he was or get as big as he should've been. I could be wrong though.
Jun 24, 2015 But Kanye only had 1 album since MBDTF and it was as good as TPAB is tbh. Metacritic has yeezus at 84 or something and TPAB at 96..and if you consider for a second that TPAB is inflated..they're in th same ballpark. Yeezus was also more polarizing to the general public than TPABbut still managed to be appreciated across the board critically
Jun 24, 2015 I get your opinion OP, but IMO Kendrick knew what he was going through with TPAB and he was clearly aware of the different reactions he would have received. I consider TPAB a W because it has some of the best rap songs i've ever heard and cuz this album allowed me to expand my musical taste.
