Yeh im just saying it was such a great album in general, so it being his first major album just makes it that much more impressive

Well, I'm not 16 so I'm not easily impressed with albums like GKMC. These albums been done before, and better.
However, TPAB excels at infusing all these different elements and musical genres. I don't know who is the guy who put everything together but he's either a brilliant student of the game or a genius.

The guy who did all that jazz on that album deserves a grammy...he probably spent a lot of time creating and learning his own distinctive scalar, intervalic and harmonic patterns, building his own language. Whoever is behind the jazz elements on this album is more than an artist.

Been studying that s--- for 10 years and it's the very first time I'm impressed by a jazzist's rhythmic conception.

Thats a very patronising way of going about rating albums though.

You're making GKMC out to be this super generic album & that's wrong. Specifically, what's your issue with the album?

I'm not going to hide it though, I haven't spent much time on Kendrick's rapping, I'm sure its great but the jazz is what fascinates me the most about that album. s--- is goat

Because it sounds generic to me. like Lupe fiasco said, this album sounds like a different version of Aquemini. This is nothing new.

Tpab though, the jazz elements on this album are mindblowing... if I want to hear something on that level, I have to go back to the 80s and revisit Anthony Davisn, Rova Saxophone, Pat Metheny, Charles Noye, Evan Parker,... it is that good. But like I said, the guy behind all that s--- is not another bad copy of these great artists, he has his very own distinctive scalar, intervalic and harmonic patterns.

I doubt it was just terrace martin, I don't think he's talented enough to pull these things off.

Tpab doesn't sound like anything else in kendrick's discography? lol Narsh smoked again.
He said himself it was his initial sound and u can tell it just by listening to songs like Faith.

Tpab gave me the kdot I was a fan of.
