Jun 24, 2015 Generic how? Kendrick's sound/style is very distinct. He's not like many artist at all & that Aquemini comparison is such a reach. The fact that Lupe said it only further proves my point tbh. Lupe will say anything to grab a head line. I love TPAB, I think it's arguably Kendrick's best album but GKMC is excellent on its own as well. The way Kendrick is able to push you into the setting of Compton & tell you about his difficulties of growing up with bad influences all around him, g--- violence, alcoholism, women, death etc. He narrates such a detailed yet compelling story through GKMC & does so without forcing it down people's throat which TPAB admittedly kind of does.
